We are off and traveling and this 4 day weekend finds us at Penn State University, in State College, Pennsylvania. Do you love to take small adventures when you travel? I pack the kids up and we go all over the place, but sometimes the best places are not very far from where you are staying and in our case, everything was within walking distance that we did this weekend. I loved walking through the streets and campus of Penn State, and the kids love it too. My hardest quest when we are out and traveling is satisfying the whole family with basic meals that we would eat at home, that are not extravagant(kids are easy) and that are not loaded with fat, grease and bad ingredients. This often proves to be a challenge as my one son lives on buttered noodles and most restaurants don’t offer this as an option on a menu. Remember, I have children with severe food allergies, nuts, latex, shellfish, honey, Gluten and more so we have to really look for restaurants that can feed them. What we stumbled upon on this outing made one little boy smile from ear-to-ear when he read a menu that provided his favorite food with almost every possible topping including his most treasured; buttered noodles. Get those forks and spoons ready to eat pasta, macaroni, noodles, whatever you want to call them, all cooked to perfection in perfect bowl portions. Gluten free, allergen free, nut free and latex free, that’s right you can eat pasta at this restaurant! Our outing tonight was to Noodles & Company. This is a basically a fast food for noodles of every sort with many different toppings, but they do offer other items. Noodles & Company offers a good bowl of pasta or noodles and the price is extremely reasonable, most bowls under $8 as well as other meals(salads and sandwiches), making this a very frugal find. The pasta bowls are loaded, and very generous and while we dined on large bowls, I actually believe that a small bowl would have been just as gratifying. The inside of Noodles & Company is IKEA-like in decor and very basic. There is nothing fancy, just great foods making it a great destination with kids! The pricing is perfect and you can eat there even if you have allergies(check with your local Noodles & Company for info on this). My son has nut allergies and latex allergies and he was just fine. My daughter can also dine here as she is gluten free and they offer plenty of options for Gluten Free Dining. If you have picky eaters that only eat buttered noodles get ready for true bliss? I have one of those and he knew before we ever got there that he would enjoy buttered noodles with cheese and that is just what he ordered. What he did not know is that they have a really cool beverage dispensing system that allowed him to make endless combinations of soft drinks. He played with this a bit and made really great soda drinks of Peach, Cherry, Grape, Orange Mello Yello. Yes, there are such combinations because you can make them in this great soda machine! I had fun as well flavoring my Dasani water to Peach. This is a super concept that is moving across the U.S. because really who does not love pasta? The price point is insanely perfect for families dining out on a budget and the kids will definitely fill their bellies as will the adults. The Mac N Cheese is amazing, not too creamy, not too cheesy and the macaroni was cooked to perfection. We will be visiting more Noodles & Company’s around the U.S. as we travel. Dining out can be pleasurable, simple and delicious and Noodles & Company is perfect for all of these concepts. Meal was provided,to facilitate review, however opinions and images are my own!
