Don’t worry, this recipe is so easy, and all it takes in one pressure cooker and a few ingredients. So long to the oven baking of mac and cheese because the pressure cooker macaroni and cheese has endless possibilities of ingredient combinations and it just turns out perfect each time in just 6 minutes (less pressure buliding time).
My one son is a die-hard mac and cheese fan and we were making it weekly in the oven and that just takes time and really heats up the house. While the heat might be a good thing in the winter, during the summer, I can’t stand heat in the kitchen, so the solution is an electric pressure cooker and our easy to create macaroni and cheese!
I will tell you after 60 plus batches of this electric pressure cooker macaroni and cheese, it is sinfully easy to create, and a guilty pleasure comfort food that will call your name over and over. Lavishly live food out loud with my recipe for pressure cooker macaroni and cheese.
Macaroni Cuts
Don’t worry about what cut of macaroni you use when you make this homemade pressure cooker macaroni and cheese, just choose the one that makes you happy. I prefer to buy Barilla or DeCecco brand pasta as they seem to spit less when you are releasing the pressure in the electric pressure cooker. Store brand pasta has a lot of starch and the cheaper the pasta the more the ‘spit’
Cheese Sauce
I love the ability to really just walk down an aisle, choose a cheese sauce and toss it into the recipe for macaroni and cheese. If you want an Alfredo taste, grab that sauce, if you want 4 cheese choose that. The end result is always success and it is all about the flavor!
Cheese sauce in a jar is also a time-saver for our busy weeknights and because I don’t feel like stopping to create another pan filled with cheese creation or possible scorching from rushing, I buy what works.
Finally, if you have ever bought cheese sauce in a jar, you know that they are all not created equal, I do tend to favor those that are a little more expensive, but seriously, $4 for a jar of cheese sauce and a few bucks for macaroni surely are not breaking the bank when it comes to meal preparation.
