We burn through luggage because we travel so much and finding any brand that can withstand the beating that an airport can put it through gets my thumbs up. The most recent trip we took created the need to pack light and pack technology quite the challenge.
The challenge of getting everything into bags without over-packing was on! We also needed to be able to carry bags on and we were packing for days at parks like Disney and Busch Gardens, so everyone needed a backpack of sorts. Simply put, to bring what we needed for our family adventures we would need to use tips and tricks for packing light or have LiteGear that allowed us to do so.
Find I did, and from my great find of lightweight luggage for traveling I can offer you a few tips and tricks for packing light. Lavishly live tips and tricks for packing light we pack up for our family adventure.
Let’s Travel With LiteGear
We have used luggage that has been extraordinarily heavy before it was even packed so this RFID I swore up and down I would bring lite luggage that was lightweight yet very durable. How does the saying go, “seek and ye shall find? ”
There is no great method to the craziness that comes before a trip and I know that no matter how hard I try to get organized for packing and no matter how obsessive I am about it, something always falls through the cracks. I place pieces ofluggage out that I know we will be using, then I allot a bit of space per person to keep the bags to a minimum (seriously someone else must have got in my body and written that because I am Queen OVERPACK ).
These bags I am about to show you will let you pack and go big while accepting the payload and then closing as they have expandable zippers, plentiful compartments and fit under the seats and in the overhead compartments on the planes.

GOING LITE
First, let’s take a look at what brand I used on this trip to pack myself up! Meet LiteGear, an incredible brand that has many awesome choices for luggage. So my tips and tricks for packing light start with choosing luggage that boasts the word ‘lite’ in its brand: LiteGear.
Mobile Pro Pack
Hybrid Rolling 20”
Hybrid Rolling Tote
City Tote
City Pack
Kompressor Kubes
Tip #1 Give Your Husband The Workhorse Backpack
Mobile Pro Pack
I gave this to my husband (poor guy) and I loaded it up with all the things we would need for ourselves for a day at Disney, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Busch Gardens, Gatorland, and Kennedy Space Center. Each day we would repack, and add things and take things out and load that sucker up. Trust me, it took a beating and survived without a scratch. There were over 5 options for carrying the backpack from hands-free to cross body and it easily attached to luggage.
The Mobile Pro Pack fit on the plane with easy as it is 17″ x 10″ x 9″ and compliant with airline regulations. There are smart pockets, easily accessible pockets, easy to maneuver zippers and a place to hold the water bottle we toted everywhere. The security feature We LOVED is theRFIDso no one could scan and steal our CC #’s, etc and we loaded it with what was necessary to protect! This is the workhorse bag that makes trips golden, as we had
The security feature We LOVED is the RFID blocking pocket so no one could scan and steal our CC #’s, etc and we loaded it with what was necessary to protect! This is the workhorse bag that makes trips golden, as we had everything we needed daily including 2 raincoats and we still had room to spare. The Kompressor Kubes were awesome to load up with ‘stuff’. Anything from delicates to tees they are the perfect solution. You can see it here in the photo. I loaded it (purple above)
What you see in the other part of the photo on the right bottom corner are the pieces that are inside of the Mobile Pro Pack that keep your organized. We had sunglasses in these, a few zipped plastic bags for later on the trip, and food.
Tip #2 Let The Kids Carry Their Own Lightweight Bags
I handed out City Totes and City Packs to the kids. My daughter and I carried the City Tote LiteGear Bags through all the parks. These we used as CrossBody Bags and my daughter could not stop telling me how much she adored her bag. Trust me, I knew it because I love my own, but she kept telling me, “mom, these are so convenient on my side, I love the access, the deep pockets.” Right from College Woman herself. Check her out, everywhere with her bags and stylin’ it.
The City Totes and Backpacks are made of microfiber and are ideal lightweight day packs. The boys filled theirs with everything they needed for the day and never complained ONCE about their packs. My youngest had all of his medical necessities in his bag, and he was hands-free all day, see him striding:) Funny, the kids figured out just how they wanted their bags situated, where their phones and cords should go and what needed packed because they loved these.
Tip #3 Get A Hybrid And Load That Sucker Up
As For packing, I loaded these 2 bags up and took them on the plane. I loaded a Hybrid 20″ and a Hybrid Rolling, both were the perfect size. Please note the adjustable piggy-back strap being used to secure the bags together and move through the airport with #TeamVento. I needed to keep track of kids, not bags and this provided the freedom to tote 2 bags at once! SCORE!
The down and dirty about the bag: The wheels on both bags move like they are on ice, they glide, frickin’ awesome.. can I say that? The telescoping handles on each rocked my world and made it easy to work with, no bending down to the bag and getting a backache.
Funny little story, packing to come home, somehow I gained a few items (might be my obsession with shopping, lol..shhh don’t tell Mr. Vento) we were frustrated that we were not fitting in our other luggage we had brought along, when suddenly….. I looked at my Hybrid Rolling and found ZIPPERED EXPANSION PANELS which added 3″ depth to our packing. These saved the day and maybe our marriage (jk) – but honestly they are lifesavers and that did really happen.
There are large internal mesh pockets on the inside and I loved on these for separating socks from clothing and shoes. I mentioned the wheels but you want to know that these bags have Inline skate wheels with sealed ball bearings they go, and they move with ease.
Cute And That
Now the Hybrid Rolling (the square one on top) gets my props for being so darn cute and functional (hey lady packer here, so I talk using the words cute!) The handle again telescoped, and the vertical stash pocket rocked my packing world. This fit under the airline seat, and it was perfect because my son and I boarded before the rest of my family so Mr. Vento was no available to help me load it in the above bin and my short stature is not for hoisting bags. I tossed my laptop in here (well not tossed, but you get me) and away we went.
Here’s my problem, I am kind of obsessed with the luggage now, and the kids all want the Hybrid Rolling Tote because of how functional it was and it is cute! Hello Shopping. Need it in Boy colors though cause they are not going to haul purple! Lavishly live travel out loud and it helps us provide Tips and Tricks For Packing Light! ~Dana
