Once upon a trip, I was joined by my 2 teen boys and a 2017 KIA Soul Turbo as we headed on up to Ohio’s Lake Erie Shores & Islands. Our trip is our one last summer trip together before the end of our fun in the sun and the back to business segment of our life begins again.
This KIA Mom was ready for adventure and with the boys set to take on the shores and islands I knew we would have a blast. Our itinerary, while planned, was loose enough that we could really wiggle in a lot of fun stops and a bunch of great visits and that is just what we did!
Get ready to lavishly live travel out loud and learn about the how the 2017 KIA Soul Turbo travels to get Lake Erie love.
LAKE ERIE LOVE
A KIA vehicle was provided for me to use and share with you. Please note, all content, info and images are based on my experience with the vehicle. As always I bring you the best of the best!
Travel is something we all do to have fun, take in a new destination and most importantly spend time together. I can assure you that the 2017 KIA Soul spent plenty of family time and met new destinations daily (if those wheels could talk)!
Lake Erie Love is something that just happens when you travel there, from meeting great people to finding great destinations there is just something for everyone and you suddenly feel the Lake Erie Love as everyone gravitates to what they adore. Hiking, biking, beach time, pool time, exploration, indoor stuff, outdoor stuff and so many different roads to take that all lead you back to one thing: Lake Erie Love.

Please NOTE: Any photos you see of me behind the wheel, my son was the person taking the photos. At NO time did I risk any safety of myself or my children and that is why they travel with me to capture the moment.
Before we start, let’s take a look at the KIA Soul Turbo from the outside in!
Our trip would take us to see 3 lighthouses, sunsets, travel in the car by ferry and all over the shores and island of Lake Erie. boasting about 34 miles per gallon! From exciting back roads to really creepy side trails, we never knew where we were going to end up, but we knew we had a dependable ride with a little ‘turbo’ on the side and I can tell you, on more than one occasions we kicked up that TORQUE and took on the highway with gusto!
Call me a chronic over-packer, and that is fine, but I will tell you when I travel, I want what I want with me and the KIA Soul took it all on. We packed the cargo area up, and the backseat (remember I had only 2 of three kids with me this trip) and away we went.
I paired my Verizon phone with the car and we set up our navigation route as you can see on the 7″ touchscreen.
SOUL TO SOUL ON THE HIGHWAY
Personally, I liked my SOUL better, but look, this is known as the Soul to Soul Moment when driving on the highway!
A smooth ride without any exception and the mileage was totally impressive. I was set at a full tank of gas enough for 350 miles and from my house to Port Clinton is about 240 miles. We filled the gasoline upon arrival to Port Clinton, only because, we knew we were taking the car over to the one island and we were sure we would not find a gas station and that we had no time between islands to STOP and get gas or we would be late for the ferry schedule!
Port Clinton Lighthouse
Our very first stop was the Port Clinton Lighthouse and my first glimpse of the lighthouse was through the windshield. It was different than other towering lighthouses, but it is a working lighthouse, just not nearly as towering as others we have toured and spent time at.
READY, SET… FERRY RIDE
We lined up, with all the other cars, and pedestrians and bikes and we got on the ferry.
All in is how this trip went, we all took the ferry over to Kelley’s Island. Let me translate this for you: me, the 2 boys and the KIA were headed on over to Kelley’s Island! Now, as you know teens are always sleepy, so my son took a nap in the KIA Soul with plenty of room for his 6’2″ body while my other son just hung out and surfed the net! The ride was only 20 minutes and we then unloaded from the Ferry and headed on our next adventure.
EXITING THE KELLEY’S ISLAND FERRY
LIGHTHOUSE ON KELLEY’S ISLAND
Here I got to show off the sporty look of the Kia Soul Turbo, those fog lights look pretty cool illuminated. This is the Camp Patmos Lighthouse. Not too tall, but really pretty backdrop don’t you agree?
This was a fun shot, and the weather totally cooperated.
The Heart Of Kelley’s Island
It was appropriate that the Kia Soul was parked in the heart of Kelley’s Island because it was the heart and SOUL of our trip!
We made one more stop to the historic church on Kelley’s Island
RETURN TO KELLEY’S ISLAND FERRY & LANDSIDE
We treated the Kia Soul to a return ride to Marblehead, Ohio. I ate behind the wheel, where can you say that? When you are parked on a Water Ferry in the car!
We had a lunch date so you could say!
This time the kids were awake for the trip back, because more exciting adventures were about to begin!
After a lot of traveling, we needed a rest and we stopped at the Red Fern Inn at Rocky Point Winery to rest. The kids were busy unpacking.
We also needed to make it to the lighthouse for one more lighthouse photo!
A BIG THANK YOU TO OUR KIA SOUL FOR A SAFE TRIP! That’s how the 2017 KIA Soul Turbo Travels To Get Lake Erie Love! Dana XO ~
