You walk into the kitchen, to draw the blinds and as you begin to lift the bracket pops open on one side.
Shame on you because you forgot that the blind’s one bracket is broken and you have to gingerly open it.
Didn’t you sip your coffee before attempting to open a broken blind?
Upgrade your blinds right now or you can keep on opening them and discovering issues.
Maybe you move on to the next blind, and when you look up, it has stacked unto itself at the top, as horizontal wood blinds do, but a valance clip is staring back at you?
Again, upgrade your blinds right now, it really is an easy DIY and can be done on any budget?
Need another familiar reason to consider why to upgrade your blinds right now?
So, you tug on window number three, it’s a single headrail and double window.
This wood blind is a beastie.
You kick yourself over and over for covering 2 windows with on headrail because the weight of this horizontal blind defies lifting.
Sadly, this blind won’t be open and the sun won’t shine freely.
Step back, walk room to room, what do you see?
What are the conditions of your blinds?
Whether it’s a broken piece on your horizontal blinds, or colors that just don’t match the decor, the daylight can’t shine through or maybe it shines through too much!
It seems to me that you have plenty of reasons to upgrade your blinds and I’ll share a few more, keep reading!
This is why I Updated My Blinds
Today’s products were provided and images and photos are my own!
Are You Updated Or Outdated?
A year back, we updated our kitchen breakfast room.
You might remember I shared how to dramatically change the look of French Doors with the window treatments I chose.
Well, things were off-balance ever since.
I am completely in love with our light makeover, from a Brick Wall to updated French Door window treatments, but the other windows lacked in every way!
With that in mind, I decided to update the 3 blinds on the kitchen dining area because they really checked all the boxes of ‘5 Reasons to Upgrade Your blinds Now!’
How can I preach it if I don’t do it?
Well, I am always updating and doing makeovers because time and wear and tear create the need to update!
I just updated one bedroom and the kitchen, I took stock of issues on the blinds and this is how we arrived at this simple DIY!
Consequently, it was time for a Blindster.Com makeover!
We’ve worked with their products before and LOVE them.

Upgrade Your Blinds Now I Did!
Are your blinds difficult to raise or lower? (1)
Our first blind on the series of windows and blinds stopped going up and down.
Why?
Forever, I have dusted and kept the current wood blinds clean.
However day after day of use, and general wear and tear contributed to the deterioration of the lifting life.
Warped Reality (2)
Another item I noticed was that the blind slats were warped.
Over time, and through days of sunshine (well Pittsburgh does get some sun, lol), the slats warp.
Really this does not look very nice when you close the blinds nor does it shield from outdoor lighting that can detract.
We had this issue in the one-bedroom I updated as well.
If the blind slats are not closing, more light is coming in and it makes the room less ambient-like to sleep.
2 Blinds on One Headrail (3)
I don’t even know what I was thinking when we built this house and accepted this window conglomeration.
Honestly, it’s almost as bad as that high-up window we dealt with in the open foyer.
Two windows are so close together, it almost makes them inseparable with blinds.
For years, I have lifted ONE Blind on ONE headrail.
Can I tell you how heavy it is?
Also, might I add that I hardly opened it because it took so much strength to pull and lock-in?
WHY did we not just do 2 blinds on ONE headrail before?
In fact, this is the superstar of the whole story, but keep reading because there is something else I really loved too!.
Valances & Plastic Clips Suck (4)
I am sure one time, not long ago, valance and valance clips were the most amazing products one could own.
Well, if you are into broken plastic, and not being able to ever replace those clips for the inability to find the same ones that actually fit your blind.
So, a new valance, with a new look is definitely the way to go!
Our new blinds actually have a very attractive valance.
It’s not just a piece of woodcut, but it’s upgraded and we did not pay any EXTRA for it.
The valance is actually a contoured valance and instead of PLASTIC clips, it is MAGNETIC!
This mattered in the room I just updated because teens put their blinds up and down and down and up.
Somehow, the motion-triggered the valances on the old blinds to come off.
Looking at a headrail is hardly attractive and finding the replacement pieces nearly impossible.
It really looks so much better, doesn’t it?
The Blinds Are Not Really Doing Their Job of Covering (5)
Last, in the one room, the blinds really were not aiding the room as they should.
In other words, when closed the television still could not be seen, as there was a glare from the light.
Slats were not really closing and the cord locks were not working.
Really, a lot more than one reason to update.
Once we did upgrade, it just checked all the boxes.
Plus, there are blinds to fit every budget, without breaking the bank but still looking great!
That put the largest smile on my face!
Your Turn To Update Your Blinds
Whether your lift cord or strings are broken on your blinds or if the valance clips are missing, these are all signals to update your blinds.
If your tilt mechanism is not working and you are using a wand, please update.
Look at the color, are they faded?
Is the light coming through your current blinds?
Can you see the television when the blinds are closed or is there an awful glare from the light?
Really, updating your blinds is an easy DIY and a MUST if you want great lighting or no light!
Replace broken hardware by updating your blinds and take control of lighting filtering both in and out!
Fix, update, love!
