My first need was to rid the laminate countertops.
In my world, granite countertops match with undermounted sinks, and granite and undermounted sinks are a match in every way!
Think about your kitchen sink, it is the beast of mess cleaning in the kitchen.
It slays all the messes, cleans up the grime, takes on stacks of dishes, and pots like a champ.
My Old Sink and Counter
5 people in a house, shallow basins, oodles of pots, pans and dishes and this countertop mounted sink.
Something had to change because there is no depth to the sink.
In fact, the sink in my kitchen was not a match for my cooking skills.
With a large family, a love for throwing parties, this sink just was not my ideal.

The Reveal – ( 5 Things To Know About Undermount Sinks)
1. Brand Matters
First things first, you have to know where to get a great undermount sink. Do not buy the $49 on you see it’s garbage.
You want a brand that is savvy and that offers great options like depth, single bowl, and easy to clean. (at least those were on my wishlist!)
I found a great large single bowl sink, that is stainless steel with over 5000 cubic inches of space.
In fact, you could bath an infant in this sink and still have room!
The 10″ bowl depth is snappy, but the brushed satin finish is what sends the look over the top.
Last, look there is no division in the sink, I said goodbye to the double basin bowl and hello to a stainless steel single bowl that lets it function as a workhorse.
Nantucket Sinks offer products that are sleek, streamlined, and turn a space into a focal point.
Kitchens are the heart of the home and the hearth of any home is only as good as the tools provided.

2. Stack Without Division
Not all undermount sinks are a single basin, but let me provide a tip, go for a single basin.
The utility of a single basin is incredible.
In my case, the 10″ bowl depth accompanied by the 36″ x 18″ size allows me to stack and stack, and did I say stack?
I cook in bulk, and the ability to not have to stop in between to do dishes just lets me fly through my recipes. Look at the above before and after for a drastic change.
3. Bend A Bit
One item that is often overlooked is that an undermount sink is a free bend workout.
When you do dishes you may bend a bit more as it is deeper and bigger.
I think this is one thing most do not consider.
In this case, bigger is better, and bending is fine.
Really, the depth of mine is so much better than what I had and the capacity is so much better!
Gotta say this change makes me happy every time I look at it.
So happy in fact, I took a picture of this and shared it before we even finished our granite install!
4. No Visible Lip & Sanitation
Goodbye to the drop-in lip. Seriously if you think getting lip from your kids is awful, the lip of your sink is worse.
When you install an undermount sink there is no more lip.
Do you know the thing I am referring to? It’s that annoying side of a sink that catches all the dirt and debris!
Most of us have to clean it with a toothbrush to get out all the sediment and sanitize it too!
It’s a total PIA, in my opinion, and in my world, it is GONE Baby GONE!
My new Nantucket Stainless Steel Undermount Sink had me at arrival in a box, lol!
The sink is streamlined and offers a continuous flowing surface from the countertop to the sink basin. (we still were working to put the backsplash up here)
Seriously if you think getting lip from your kids is awful, the lip of your sink is worse.
When you install an undermount sink there is no more lip.
What happens when you just have to wipe across a continuous surface that can easily dump into a drop.
Guess what happens?
There’s no excuse for being lazy about wiping up around your sink or the countertops.
Cleaning becomes no fuss, no muss, and the kitchen countertops become more sanitary
5. Stainless Makes It Effortless
Stainless steel is a gift that shines through the toughest of chores.
Did I mention that my sink is Premium 304, 16 gauge Stainless Steel?
The sink is a beast of a workhorse product (in a great way) and it is created to last a lifetime and then some.
Wear and tear are words not known to the sink.
Pots, pans, dishes, dirty washcloths, glasses, and foods that have gone wrong have met their match.
Get ready for grace, and unique style that together provides a new focal point.
There are a variety of sinks to choose from, all adding sophistication, and creative elements to your kitchen space.
Sleek, gorgeous, eye-catching, and streamlined are words that will fly.
Your beast of a sink will slay the dishes because it is a workhorse!
Don’t Forget The Faucet.
(the backsplash is back, the faucet is on, the caulking is filled and we are back to having our kitchen!)
Now if you like my sink you can find yours at Nantucket Sinks too, and add in a faucet as we did.
Changing the sink was an excuse to change that faucet.
Oh, do I love the 18″ on this satin nickel finished faucet.
The model in case you want to know is KF-GNPD-1-SN.
Yes, it is classic and looks amazing against the granite.
This is a gooseneck pull-down and is impeccable.
Don’t just change the sink change your faucet too.
What I can say is the before and after are drastic.
