Stop, grab your favorite NFL team’s shirt because Friday September 5th is officially, Back To Football Friday! Now that you have that maimed tee in your hand, take a real good look at it. When you look at your tee-shirt or hoodie, tank or cardigan do you see stains, tears and food particles? Is it your good luck shirt is it time for Good Will? Do you just head to your closet, grab your hubby’s shirt and match it up with something in your closet? Aren’t the sleeves too big and why would you want to wear layers under a huge shirt? Some days are too warm and that material is never comfortable. The shirts we bought the guys long ago are made of I don’t know what because they just wear like iron and last forever. Does anyone wish they could just have a redo on their purchase of their favorite team’s shirt? What about an update or a great way to style it out when it comes to actually strut that fashion? Back To Football Friday is the perfect time to take that last photo in that shirt and then post it on Twitter in support of your favorite NFL Team, are you ready to kick off Fall Fashion with NFL Apparel?
Not having all the answers to why it is so important to wear that gear on Back To Football Friday, I turned to my friend, former NFL Tight End and personal friend Dan Gronkowski who currently works at his family G&G Fitness ? Dan is part of the Gronkowski legendary football family! We chatted about the significance of Back To Football Friday and wearing your favorite team’s shirt!
Dana: What was the one thing you loved most about Back To Football Fridays?
Dan: There is no better feeling then putting that HS football jersey on. Not only putting them on for the game but also wearing them to school each Friday. Every teammate you saw in school with a jersey on you would have to yell to them or give them a chest bump to start pumping them up for the game.
Dana: What was one thing a shirt could do for you?
Dan G: The jerseys are tight so you get to show off your arms and chest muscles for the ladies.(lol)
Dana: What was the bigger deal, playing in high school for Back TO Football Fridays or Playing in the NFL?
DAN : It’s not about the bigger deal, it’s all about the apparel. Your shirt tells the story. Fridays we would be able to wear our jerseys to school and walk around all focused and ready to play! High school game day preparation is much different then college or the NFL. Once you get to college, you are put up into a hotel the night before games to avoid any distraction. In high school you are in school hours before the big game with everybody cheering you on. Cheering you on if your team is good. If your team is not good it is tough to wear the jersey. The team camaraderie in high school is far more than any other level. You grew up with these guys you are playing with.
Now agreeing with what Dan said, I believe you should grab your favorite old tee, hoodie, sweatshirt, whatever it is, and get ready to let it shout out the loudest on Twitter in favor of your favorite NFL team. To participate, put on your jerseys and submit your photos to either NFL.COM or Twitter (using hashtag #NFLFanRecord). The team with the most fan photos will win. Then, after you take a photo in that shirt, it’s time to shop till you drop, with some great new styles.
Football season is fall, and it is time to clean up the closet from the summer ruckus, and get serious with your NFL Gear. What worked years ago, does not look so good now and just because you have held on to this shirt so long it is time to study it and learn from it. What did you like about the NFL Shirt was it the stitching or the material? Did you like the jewel neck? A crew neck? A V-Neck that you could slide a cami under? Maybe you loved how the sleeves were capped and showed of your well-toned form? Whatever it is, you are sure to find something full of fashion, and up-to-date with new styles from Phillip Bloch(NFL Creative Designer Women’s Apparel ). Now as for me, I guess being in Pittsburgh you assume I will drag out the Steelers Gear, or borrow my husbands shirt, but I have very particular tastes, that require a fitted shirt, that works compliments my figure and does not make me look like I am wearing a dress.
I was provided these fashion tips from Phillip Bloch(Creative Style Director for NFL Women’s Apparel)
“Styling Tips 101 for NFL Fashion”
- If you are going for an athletically chic look, Phillip recommends side-striped workout pants topped by an NFL tank, complemented by stilettos and a bold jacket.
- Pairing 60’s inspired silhouettes with NFL clothes and sports-gear give it a modern twist, feel and look. For example: a 60’s cut dress with a jersey or a varsity cardigan paired with vintage dress and kicks.
- And for the workaholic – pair ubiquitous fitness sneakers with sporty, spicy style: throwing on a classic blazer over an NFL shirt and matching with a great pair of jeans.
Now we also tested out some great looking Steelers apparel. I appreciate the v-neck and the sleeves plus the soft material make this a must-wear each Friday. My daughter loves the glitz on this tee and the nice jewel neck line! And my son, well he is happy to sport around a new team shirt!
Cheer your favorite teams on, bring out those NFL shirts, and make some noise! Lavishly live fashion out loud and submit those photos of your wearing your shirts to the NFL.COM website or Tweet them out with the #NFLFanRecord, but definitely support your team! There is nothing like having team spirit and reminding everyone around you who you are passionate about! See you on Twitter oh and ‘Go Steelers!’
