It’s come down to the brass tacks of lifestyle, indulgence! We all love to eat, and what we put into our mouths is our choice. With our new lifestyles and defined ways of living, most have what we will term a cheat day! For me, cheat days come during work days, when I am out tasting and dining on glutenous foods that just amaze the palate!
If the question in your mind is, “where to spend your next cheat meal experience”, you will want to get this right, and find the most glutenous bites you can to make that day worth it! Who’s with me? Cheat days are a way to cave to our wants without feeling bad about it. The next day we rebound and go back to our lifestyle habits that keep us moving and grooving. A good burger, a beer and some treats before a meal are how I live up cheat day!
Recently, I spent an evening out dining at a modernized restaurant, which I had been to plenty before. What was different this time? The food portions, the style of presentation and the entire inside. WOW! Read on! It’s time to dig into beers, burgers and bones: where to spend your cheat meal experience to get your belly’s worth!
Beers, Burgers & Bones: Where To Spend Your Cheat Meal Experience
I’ll be honest, we have dined at the restaurant I am about to share with you on numerous occasions and it while it has never really made my top 5 list, the changes blew me away! Honestly, the portions are more generous, the food tastes better and the presentation is great! What else did I find interesting about the restaurant? The lighting, and the new more ‘open’ concept just feels better when you are dining.
How I gauge a dining place is not just through my foodie experience, but my families’ as well. When I see food being scoffed, and when it gets real quiet at a table, I know it’s good! Alright, let’s dig in to huge portions, mouth-watering bites and family fun night where indulgence is key! We dined at Smokey Bones!
“Smokey Bones has recently completed a few newly remodeled locations but the one thing it didn’t revamp is its classic fire-grilled favorites! Smokey Bones, the favorite choice for food, drinks and fun is a full-service bar and fire-grill restaurant operating in 66 locations throughout 16 states. Its famous hand-rubbed, slow-smoked BBQ dishes are known to satisfy your heart and soul, but now there is something more to celebrate!”
You thought I was going with wings right? I don’t eat meat, but that would also have qualified as a starter dish and bones would have been piled up. Rather, I went with Pretzel bones! See them below. I want more now!
As if I could ever not get a ‘starter’ it is like the appetizers stare it me back on the menu. Yes, I did! Smokey Bones Pretzels are soft pretzels, that are each about 6″ long and about 1 1/2″ wide, served with a side of housemade queso dipping sauce. Needless to say these did not last long at all!
Choice is in no short supply here, and this is just a spattering of options. Please I had all I could do to figure out what I was going to try or not try, as did Michael. There’s a lot of territory to cover here and famished as well as parched will go a long way when dining at Smokey Bones!
My decision a grapefruit beer and it was a good decision. Very different, trending and what a taste! Thanks for the intro to this one Smokey Bones.
Michael, is a Sam Adam’s kind of guy, so he just went with his favorite and called it a night! He was thrilled. Enough said!
NO MEAT PLEASE
Don’t worry if you don’t eat meat, I don’t either and there was plenty to choose from. There’s seafood if you want it, or appetizers, salads and of course, why I went…. A veggie burger. You can ‘Build A Burger’ or sub in a veggie for any of those meat-fabulous burgers! Yes, that is what I did!
Yeah that’s a thing, at least in my world of dining. I don’t eat meat and this burger tasted just as good as yours with meat! Here it is the veggie burger! I took what should have been the Avocado Turkey Burger and subbed in the Veggie burger for the turkey. Here’s what I had on the burger: avocado + Swiss cheese + lettuce + tomato + red onion + pickles + garlic mayo + toasted bun.
What do you think? Would you eat it? Open Wide and bite! So how did i fit this into my cheat day? Ummm, I added fries (what did you think I was going to clean eat? Not A Chance!) Also, I ate the bun, so this is on white bread, and that was a mortal sin in my foodie lifestyle, but I came to eat! Divine!
Burgers With The Meat
To keep the ‘fixins’ inside the bun, this handy little wrapper helps a lot, and it adds a charismatic touch that trendy eateries are using. Modernization right? The fry portions are not huge, but after that burger, there’s just barely enough room left to shove those babies in!
Yes, you see mac n’ cheese because allergen friendly wise. fries are not. The fryer is not a dedicated fryer. Our work around was the mac n’ cheese, just whatever works and so he can eat safely. Ask your local restaurant if their fryer is dedicated or not before you order!
DO you see the size of that onion ring? It’s a meal on its own, but it sits atop a burger. Cheers to fabulous, fried, crunchy and big! Like I said, no choice is a bad choice and these are the perfect foods to step off of your daily menu for and dig into crave-a-licious edibles!
You will love the open concept floor plan, you don’t feel jammed into other parties dining there. Further the food is fresh and tasty, things we consider before we dine out! Enjoy your beers, burgers and bones!
*My meal was purchased by Smokey Bones, images and thoughts are my own based on my 1.5 hour dining experience there as well as my own visits! I know this restaurant well! XO
