To Kristin: Your light is far brighter than any flash, your spirit has sass, and your friendship is boundless, congratulations on winning your battle against Breast Cancer! ~Dana
One thing I have found as Pittsburgh Frugal Mom is a warm circle of friends, family, fans, readers, followers etc that have brought me to life and life is precious. This month as we celebrate National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I wanted to mention someone very special to me, my personal photographer, Kristin Becket. This is not a sponsored post, rather a post about friendship, life and survival! A Pittsburgh story!
Kristin entered my life a few years back, while we were both working with a common client. We clicked, and the rest has been history. A breathe of fresh air, an amazing photographer and a wonderful mom and wife, Kristin embraces life each day with a smile on her face and her camera close by to encapsulate each moment. Unlike the still shots Kristin creates, she is anything and has been anything but STILL since she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer last December 2012. In February, Kristin underwent a bilateral mastectomy with the beginning of reconstruction and this week, she received her final surgery. I want to publicly acknowledge her strength, battle and wish her well! Kristin will be walking in The Susan G. Komen with her sister, in San Diego, CA. with her sister who has just battled cancer as well! Prayers, and best wishes to you both!
Last year, even though Kristin had just undergone massive breast cancer removal surgery, she showed up to photo behind-the-scenes with Redbook and the photo you all know as me, my head-shot. This was her official first outing as she had been resting for 6 weeks! Nothing has stopped Kristin and her spirit as a breast cancer survivor provides a bright light down a path down a path of uncertainty.
Kristin’s work is nothing short of creative, spirited, warm, and professional. Kristin is as good with children as she is with adults and she will make the camera work for you. You don’t have to feel self-conscious, you just let go and let Kristin get it right for you! Your job is finding Kristin, the rest is easy! The holidays are here and family photos are a prized commodity. Do you have that outfit you want to look just right or are you getting your whole family together for a special occasion? Kristin can create a memorable photo for you to treasure forever!
While the article is not about me, if you look at my photos from Redbook, you will see that they all bare the watermark of KB – This is my amazing friend, Kristin, survivor, friend and photographer!
