You probably have heard that there are some rather great uses for kitty litter you never knew about recently as so many people are pushing the limits of what we already own. I love clever fixes and mine occurred when I parked my car in my garage. We rescued our cat, Bella just 2 years back and since then chaos and craziness has abounded, because cats are wild and fun all little package. Cat’s tend to take over anything they want in your home from clothing on the floor to a space on the coach, so this role reversal of using something that is hers makes me laugh. While I might term this article clever uses of kitty litter for moms with kids in sports I believe that what I have uncovered is a way to manage that funk that sweat, spit, unwashed clothes and totally over-the-top sports shoes emit. Lavishly live being a sports mom out loud as I offer you a clever use of kitty litter for sports bags!
If you have kids who play sports that offer up some great perspiration as a perk of activity and then plunk their bags in your car, mudrooms, basements, hallways, closets and any other closed area, you will love my clever use of kitty litter.
Cat Litter to the Rescue
“Oh my gosh what is that most horrible funk?” is about all I could muster up when I got out of my car and into the garage parking space. The smell that was greeting my olfactory was something along the lines of throw-up, must and foot stank all captured into one big dose and I personally thought I might toss my cookies right then and there.
Just arriving home from a very long day, I can assure you the last thing I was going to do was run back out to grab a cure for the hockey stink that was going on in the garage. Rather, I opened the garage door and walked around the one side of the car and I came up with this clever use of kitty litter for hockey moms. Thank goodness we have this little rescued darling named Bella because she is the heroine of the story or at least her kitty litter is!
My savior of stank quickly has become Fresh Step Total Control with the Power of Febreze. You would never believe how this kicks odors to the curb, unless of course you have a cat and put it in the litter box or if you have stinky sports bags, sports shoes and other sports paraphernalia. Let me pave the way to a good smelling home through the use of kitty litter.
Fresh Step Total Control with the Power of Febreze entered our life and I am so happy we found it, not just for our cat Bella, but for other clever uses. We were headed of to a trip and Bella needed babysat. I ran to Sam’s Club (this is the only place you can purchase this litter) and grabbed a 42 lb bag. Fresh Step Total Control with the Power of Febreze is now in bag form, making it easier to move, and so easy to reseal in order to store it and there is even a money back guarantee for this product (find all the details on the packaging). We chose this and have never looked back.
The Scent of the litter is Lemongrass citrus which offers a ‘fresher’ aroma once the cat activates it through the movement, and the litter has the ‘odor controlling’ power of Febreze, so when your little kitty uses the box, they are not the biggest stinker in the house, lol! Fresh Step Total Control with the Power of Febreze includes Borate Technology for superior ammonia control which inhibits the growth of odor-causing bacteria.
We were gone for over 9 days and our babysitter did not have to do anything other than scoop and provide food, no need to change the litter box and start fresh, because the litter is superior!
A Clever Use of Kitty Litter Is Born
As I mentioned, moving around the car I saw the bag of kitty litter and thought, if it works for the stench of a cat’s box it would have to work for a hockey bag and hockey skates, right? No harm in trying, but how do I package it so it is not noticeable in my son’s bag or skates but will be in a big enough amount to make a difference? I made this lovely little sachets that are filled with kitty litter, cost practically nothing to make and just absorbs the odor. These are fast, easy and very inexpensive and when done right, you won’t even see them in the bag.
How To Create Kitty Litter Sachets
Materials You Will Need
Pantyhose or Knee Highs in Color of sports bag
5 Minutes of time
Here is the step-by-step photos to help you out.
- Cut 4 even pieces, and then stretch the pantyhose
- If you are working with a piece of hosiery that has two opened ends, knot one end, if you are working with an end that is closed already (the toe) then skip this step.
- Fill your stocking with about 1/3 cup of Kitty Litter.
- Tie A knot in the top of the sachet.
Now you are ready to place this into ice hockey skate, and then repeat the procedure, creating one per skate and 2 for the bag. The key to getting the most out of the hosiery is below.
Please note, do not place mouth guards anywhere near these sachets or the taste will transition on the mouthpiece and yes that is experience speaking.
I love this creative kitty litter use and I love our cat so much, that we thought it was a great idea to donate $100 to the shelter we rescued her from. While we can not take on more than one cat we truly are hopeful that providing a donation will allow them to tend to more wonderful cats like Bella. Cats make great additions to the home and they all come packed with their own littler personality, and it is interesting to see the blending in a home.
We are so thankful for our little Bella and that she had the kitty litter to help us come up with a clever new way to combat that sports funk! What sports odor would you conquer with the sachets?
