For me, the holidays are about getting together, going out, having fabulous cocktails, appetizers, and then enjoying a delicious entree followed by a spectacular, yet simple dessert.
One of the most important things to me during the holidays is staying connected to my husband. The days get harried, crazy and we are constantly over-committing ourselves to make the most of each day so time together is little to none. Our date night was at BRAVO!
How better to reconnect than indulging in holiday happiness with Delectable Holiday Dishes At BRAVO! The cuisine offered at BRAVO! is rather exceptional and its for those that want upscale dining at an affordable price.
Delectable Holiday Dishes At BRAVO!
What makes BRAVO! Cucina Italiana Restaurant delicious this season are the limited time menu items that are off the charts with exceptional flavor and so on par with the flavors of the season!
Our Meal Starter
I am all about my drinks and when a drink is done well, it rocks my stilettos (yeah I had those on). Meet the amazing Peach Bellini, full of flavor, and while you might consider the Peach Bellini a summer drink, I consider it seasonal because it is ‘icy’ like the outside temperatures. The flavor is straight up delicious, with Prosecco that gives it that little burst the peaches need to come alive!
The Hidden Drink Menu
You may laugh but when the assistant manager came over and took note of the drink I was enjoying he gave me a different recommendation. In fact I had a Raspberry Peach Bellini. While it is not on the menu, if you ask your server you can be part of the hidden drink menu club at BRAVO! Yes the taste is phenomenal, smooth yet the Prosecco gives it the little bubbly that it needs and it just glides on down.
I am a firm believer in the way you start the meal is truly indicative of how the meal itself will present. I am totally obsessed with the Artichoke and Spinach Formaggio Dip. The warm Parmesan pizza flatbread is its own fab dish and when I dress the flatbread with the Artichoke and Spinach Cheese Sauce and Tomatoes it goes from blue jeans to tuxedo. While I savor each bite I know that I have more food coming and my belly gets ready for that BRAVO! famous salad.
The Infamous BRAVO! Chopped Salad
While this is not going away, and it is a menu staple, I crave this salad. Plated up perfection is all I can say. The plate is chilled, the salad is impeccably dressed with just the right amount of dressing and the salad never is too long to be in my mouth in one bite. In fact I never have to take my knife to the salad, I just fork it and go! Love this salad for how clean it is to eat and how chilled the dish is.
The salad consists of chopped greens, cucumbers, red onions, tomatoes, olives, Feta cheese and red wine vinaigrette. This with the Artichoke and Spinach Formaggio could be a meal on its own, but I just go on when I am here and eat because the food is yummy.
Fried Calamari Rings – Calamari Fritti
My husband’s eyes glistened when Debbie (our server) suggested Calmari Fritti as this is one of his favorite seafood dishes and he has not had it in a long while. These are each battered, and then served with Tomato (pomodoro) and a horseradish (he eliminated the heat from his dish).
From beginning to end, he enjoyed each and every bite of these. His enjoyment had me rethinking my dislike for the food, but I just let him indulge.
Limited Time Menu Offerings
Are you ready to tempt your taste-buds? Open wide and order up the following limited time menu offerings:
Parmesan Crusted Beef Medallion
Crab & Shrimp Cakes
Jumbo Stuffed Shrimp Scampi
Parmesan Crusted Beef Medallion ($24.95)
Sink your teeth into a plate filled with delectable Parmesan Crusted Beef Medallions, my husband did. Accompanying the beef medallions are sweet potatoes cubed, crispy fingerling and bacon hash (includes a onion) and to finish the accompaniments you will find grilled asparagus. The char-taste on the asparagus was sweet perfection (you bet I stole veggies off his plate from potatoes to asparagus and delighted with each bite).
Jumbo Stuffed Shrimp Scampi ($20.95)
Admittedly I could have licked my plate clean when I was presented with my entree of choice the Jumbo Stuffed Shrimp Scampi. As I separated the tail from the ‘true meat of the shrimp’ (yes contradiction, lol) I experienced a taste of lemon, Parmesan and it was light and delightful while the shrimp was still juicy and yummy.
Crab & Shrimp Cakes ($22.95)
So for very selfish, self-serving reasons I do not want to share this insider’s scoop on this entree with you. I do not want you to go to the restaurant and eat it, I want it all! Ha! One bite and I bet you are saying the same thing. The Romano crusted tomato is where it is on this dish. Oh yes the crab and shrimp cakes are to die for, but the true life of the party is this Romano crusted tomato.
Directions: Separate the crab and shrimp cake from the Romano crusted tomato. Cut the tomato into many pieces. The crust is succulent, crisp and in fact reminds me of eating eggplant Parmesan without the eggplant or the sauce. The sauce is built into the tomato itself and the crisp resistance of the tomato against the Romano crumbing just is over-the-top awesome!
Don’t Forget Dessert
This was epic because chocolate pairs so well with peppermint (candy cane) but it was the gelato that sent this dish over the top!
- Chocolate Layer Cake with Candy Cane Gelato ($5.99)
We also shared a piece of Bravo! Cheesecake. Best described as ‘heavenly’ and I really appreciated the caramelized crunch that accompanied each bite.
This is a New York Style cheesecake made with a shortbread cookie crust, dusted with sugar and served with vanilla bean anglaise. It’s a holiday must have, it makes it ‘cheat-worthy’ on these lifestyle diets we are all on.. it’s so worth the flavor!
