As I have been driving the KIA FORTE LX, I have been trying to figure out who best would fit this vehicle. My daughter and I pictured above have discussed every feature of the car as we have been driving it and paying attention to everything for comparisons to what we have been driving. While vehicles are a very personal match, my truest belief is that the KIA FORTE LX is absolutely a perfect car for my daughter, or a couple or even a small family or a family with smaller children. My children however, are at the ages of 16, 13, and 10 and it is difficult to stack hockey bags in, massive loads of groceries or even tote other friends.
With a family of 5 and being used to actually spread out in a vehicle, I have found the KIA FORTE LX to be a challenge as far as shopping trips and kids go. I tend to keep my errand days tight on the schedule and when I run errands I often have the kids with me. After we stop and do all the errands my SUV is filled and the kids still have space. We fill up the back part of the vehicle and they sit in the front row. We stopped at a warehouse club, then Target and then I had to go home. I had no room in the car and the warehouse stop filled up the car, the extra seat and the trunk. By the time we grabbed the other items we needed from Target I had no more space left. So we stopped home, unloaded and went back out. I could have had more space if I did not have the kids with me, but generally they have projects that require materials so we pack up after school and run this errand and everything else that needs done. The hockey bags together just did not fit, but for one child they did.
The space in the vehicle was not adequate to tote the 3 kids around at their current ages(16,13,10) as they were not as comfortable as they are in my car with space. The boys require leg room, and space and their sister just wants to be as separated from them as she can be! However, I would have been easily able to place toddlers and children 8 and under in this vehicle and I think car seats would have been a breeze as well because everything is at an arm’s reach.
When I was alone and driving there was plenty of space, what I missed in the middle was my arm rest. While this is personal preference it is something I have become accustomed to from having 3 other vehicles that had this in it. It if funny how I am right-handed but drive predominantly left-handed. I truly missed the arm rest in the car.
LINE OF VISION – BLIND SPOTS
As you might have seen in some photos, I am fairly small, just about 5’2″, and being low in the car was a challenge. I do think that is why I love driving in an SUV so much, because I see everything going on around me, or is that me being nosy? LOL! The front seats of the KIA FORTE LX are kind of slanted backwards, and I liked that because you really felt like you were fitting into the seat and the car, not sitting against a straight board. The seat belt fit well and did not cut at my neck. I had a previous vehicle that no matter how much I adjusted it always left red marks on my neck because of how it sat across my neck. The seatbelt is a non-issue in the KIA FORTE LX.
The gears(Drive, Reverse) are on a floor console which adds to the sportiness of the vehicle. I am used to mine being on the steering wheel so it was a nice change. I did not have a blind spot that I could find on this vehicle as the windows and my seating let me see everything with comfort, including behind me and over my shoulder. When I was at a red light I even discovered that there were small windows off the main windows in the front, which was really cool!
The outside mirrors were easy to adjust as they had automatic controls on the door panel. I was able to easily adjust these as I seemed to adjust myself each day when I was driving. I will never understand how I get the mirrors all set one day and the next it is as if they were never adjusted! The KIA FORTE LX was easy to adjust.
THE CARPOOL THING
With work, it is nice to know that you can rely on a friend to pick up your kids and that you can tote their kids back. I did not have that option with this vehicle. I did have one of my kids ride in the front, and we picked up another child, but the seating in the back became very ‘tight’ according to the boys because we were picking up other teen boys! This may be great for short distances together but after that I think it would be too tight to keep on packing them in the seat! Again, great if you just have one or 2 kids or younger but once they are older a bit more space is required.
The KIA FORTE LX
I have loved my time driving in the vehicle, and the performance of the car itself is outstanding. My thoughts are that a bigger vehicle from the KIA family might serve our family very well in addition to this car being a great car for my teen driver. I have enjoyed the features, the way the car handles the road and the ease of maneuverability. The KIA Forte LX is a great car with great features! If you have not looked at a KIA and you are considering a new car purchase I would definitely look at the KIA line of vehicles.
I was not asked to write anything about the KIA FORTE LX, I chose to write on my own. These are my opinions and yours may differ.
