While I don’t believe in totally putting shoes away and colors, I do believe in keeping my flip flops looking clean and new.
I know that my flip flops were a daily wear until recently.
It is only natural that they become dirty, from walking around in them.
Flip flops gather even more dirty because they are completely exposed to debris and dirt.
Your flip flops have been to the beach, pool, amusement parks, bathrooms, let’s just say they are dirty! One trip into a public bathroom basically christens them into the sanctity of bacteria-laden.
Step One to Fall Flip Flop Clean Up
Grab a bucket, a cleaner(our favorite is Lestoilas it smells great and cleans even better), make a bucket of cleaner water, and you will also want to have a scrub brush, softer bristle.
Alternatively, you can also use BORAX made into a paste.
Since you have the cleaning solution made you want to gather all those flip flops that are sitting around the house and get ready to clean them up.
1) Bucket
2) Cleaner
3) Flip Flops
4) Soft Bristled Brush
5) Towel
Naturally, when you drop a flip flop into the bucket of water, you will see the flip flop float to the top.
Since this is not the ideal situation, try dropping in several pairs of flip flops in at once so the cleaner can begin working to dissolve the dirt.
While they settle into the cleaning brew, walk away and get something else done.
WHERE TO DO THIS – Step 2 (Flip Flop Clean Up)
I work in our laundry tub. I drop all the flip flops in a bucket, they soak and I move pair by pair.
Take a flop out, scrub over my sink with my brush and the dirt just comes off.
Just wait until you see ALL the GUNK come off!
Alternatively, head outside, scrub them off and then hose them off. Allow the sun to dry them.
I love doing this! I can’t believe the difference in color that this makes- you should see the white and mint green, they go back to looking as good as store new.
Once I scrub, I rinse the brush and the flip flops and place them on a towel. It’s that easy.
The flip flops dry quickly and are ready for action. I also take stock of the colors I have on hand.
Why? So I can order to purchase any colors I am missing and I toss any that have been worn to the maximum.
Why Would You Clean A Flip Flop
Look how clean these look and that is what yours will look like too!
Have you seen the ground before?
Have you ever really looked at the bottom of your feet after a day in flip flops?
Chances are you have cut through dirt somewhere, a newly paved parking lot, or just the ground itself.
The beds of the shoes are a breeding ground for a speck of dirt and we place our feet in them every day and then into our homes.
Enough said, as flip flops are dirt and germ contributors and I want a clean home and clean foot.
