*This is not a sponsored post but a most helpful hint that I wanted to share with you*
The heat of the summer is upon us and the oppressive, sweltering heat is often just too much to handle. My kids are hot and sweaty and have been out in the early morning hours to play before the heat takes over completely and the mugginess really sets in. We know that the afternoon will bring on even more heat, so when we pack up to the club for the afternoon we make sure that we pack our snack cooler with plenty of cold snacks sure to help cool the inside steaminess of our stomach. We figure it will be like a slow freeze like when you drink a slushie, your body cools down from the inside out, so we are making sure everything we bring is cold and frozen. A Grape delight is what we will be feasting on today as we are bringing along a one pound bag of frozen grapes.
Take a look at these frozen grapes, they are solid and ripe red, but I did not just buy them, in fact I purchased these more than 2 months ago when they were only .99 a pound. Sometimes the summer drive produce prices up higher than they should be(supply and demand) so I make sure that I purchase these when they are at .99 and I clean and freeze them by the gallon bag. You want to know what we do with all of them? That is easy, we eat all of the frozen grapes.
Fruit smoothies are always good with fresh fruit, but adding in frozen fruit is easier than adding in ice, making it less watery, so a perfect solution to smoothies are frozen fruits like these grapes. The price line is perfect as listed above, so I make sure to buy and freeze. A great additional snack that can be made ahead with a frozen grape is a fruit kabob. The grapes still can be skewed when frozen and adding fresh strawberries around the grape provides a bit of cooling keep the tops and bottoms from browning.
Now as previously mentioned, another great treat and what we brought with us today to the pool are just plain old frozen grapes, easy, delicious, nutritious and cool. There is not much to the prep: buy them, wash them, take them off the stem and pop them into a freezer bag and when you are ready they are waiting for you. Enjoy those frozen grapes and the heat of summer!
