Fun Activities In Banff

This was the trip of a lifetime, one of those trips we would cross off some serious bucket-list wants and wishes and just dig in and do them.  The experience of Banff was one that I won’t soon forget and one I am hoping to share with my children.

Activities abound in Banff and the fact that we are adventurous and do not like to sit while we are on vacation really fits into Banff’s optional activities.  Perhaps I am in love with the mountain scenery that greets you everywhere you turn or Lake Louise, or maybe it is the architecture of the area, it really does not matter.

The air in Alberta is fresh, crisp and waiting for me to inhales its every morsel as I get to read to lavishly indulge in fun activities in BANFF.  Lavishly live travel out loud and experience fun activities in Banff. Who’s ready?

Fun Activities In Banff

Banff is a premier destination for both couples and families because you can have it all when traveling to Alberta, Canada.  What a hard life waking up to this awesome view from my window each morning in BANFF.

Snow-kissed mountain tops, a lake waiting to provide adventure and so many activities I had to watch that we did stay active but did not do so much that we were walking zombies.  The fun never ends in BANFF and the scenic views just keep on giving more of themselves each day.

I think what was hardest about getting to Banff was all the travel as Alberta, Canada is hardly around the corner from our lovely little town of Pittsburgh.  While we traveled a lot to get there the ending result was a winter paradise.

Adventure Abounds

Our adventure led us to ice fishing, dog sledding, snow snowmobiling, skiing, campfires, helicopter rides, beer houses and of course the ultimate in boutique shopping.  A trip that seemed so surreal with each minute that I never wanted it to end.  Since the trip has ended, the adventure of Banff lives on in my heart and through our photos, that I thought I might share.

Ice Fishing On Spray Lakes

While I am not the little fisherman’s daughter in any way, I have to tell you that this experience is something I have wanted to do since I have seen it in movies, and in cartoons.  I always think about the movie FROZEN when I think of our experience on Spray Lakes in Banff.  Here I am enjoying a few minutes, hanging out on the lake that is solidly frozen over, attempting to ice fish.  My husband did manage better than I did, but I did not want a fish on my line, just the chance to experience ice fishing.

You do get a little cold, but if you dress properly (think cold weather) you will survive.  There are warming huts and the day goes so fast, that there is really no time to think about being chilled, rather what is going to happen next.

A few notes: Yes you need a fishing license and they can easily be purchased with whatever tour option you decide to choose. You also might want to know that ice fishing is a December through April adventure (lake is frozen). Check with the hotel or resort you are staying at in order to find out details, most accommodating.

Dog Sledding

I am craving an Alaska Trip but I believe that I satisfied a pang here when I boarded my first Dog Sled Adventure.  The adrenaline rush from this is like no other, and the fact that the sled just glides so fast and the scenery whisks by is awesome.  This is so much a part of a fun winter Banff trip I can not even use words to describe!

The Town of Banff

The Town of Banff is located within the Canadian Rockies and unlike any town, we have ever visited before.  There is no bad way to look at the mountain scenery greets you any which way you turn. The town itself offers awesome shopping, and you will enjoy the Cascade Mountain all over.  While my picture does not even provide a beginning for the beauty it does give you a glimpse into what to expect.

This is just the beginning of fun activities in Banff, as the ultimate in skiing, spas, and resorts are a bit more of what we indulged in.  The premier destination of Banff is a family must, a couple’s winter paradise and perfect for those that crave adventure because this area has everything.  Lavishly live travel out loud and enjoy some of the fun activities in Banff.

This looks amazing. I would love to visit Canada one day. The ice fishing sounds great. I don’t usually like fishing but did go sea fishing once which was fun.

I actually had a couple of friends that moved out here for a few months. They trained and worked to be snowboarding trainers, so jealous they also had great stories and recommendations!

I first heard of Banff when I started a part time job in a travel agency when I was in college at the age of 17. It looked as amazing then as it does 27 years later. I always wanted to go and see Banff as the scenery just transfixed me. It looks just majestic with those mountains rearing up above everything. I may be nearly 44 now but I want to go there as much as I did when I was a teen! Thank you for telling me a bit more about it xx

Wow, those mountain backdrops behind Banff are awesome. I’ve never made it any further than the airport in Canada so this is definitely somewhere I’d love to see. Mich x

I have never ever heard of this place, but after your points on what you can do and see there it’s ever so tempting (especially the thought to snowy mountains)
