It is grilling season and it is something that I personally can’t get enough of because grilling equals less time in the kitchen and more time dining Al Fresco. What could be better than new recipes, and experimenting with the fire Gods to get a recipe just right? I am a veggie girl, so anytime that a vegetable intrigues me I set out on an adventure to conquer, and curate a new recipe. Truth be told, on one of our first cruises, years ago, we had something of the like, it was a radicchio that was broiled, but the taste of the char, against the bitter of the radicchio was incredible. That really was the best radicchio ever and I have been experimenting with many different versions of what I think makes a great grilled radicchio. This is my story of lavishly living radicchio out loud and grilling it up!
Frieda’s produce is a brand that our local stores carries and they seem to have the most amazing radicchio( I have tried others with less taste) and I enjoyed this opportunity to work with the vegetable. Lavishly live this grilled radicchio recipe out loud on your grill as food is fantastic when it is grilled with Avocado Oil, minced garlic add a bit of zest.

The texture will go from firm like cabbage to softer in texture.
You will notice a bit of charring from the balsamic against the heat, this is normal.
Do not flip and do not allow to burn.
This is my video of what it looks like while it is cooking and after it is done cooking. (**Please note the change should be to Avocado Oil)
The balsamic against the Radicchio softens the bitterness. The Salt and Pepper lend flavor to the taste of the radicchio, but make sure to not over do the salt and pepper. The garlic also adds a sweet zest to an otherwise bitter taste. You can eat the Grilled Radicchio as is, or you can place it in a salad, mixed in with cooked green beans or asparagus. Try grilling an onion as well, the taste of the two: Radicchio and Onion together when grilled is sensational. Of course Radicchio can be eaten as is, without grilling, simply wash, chop and prepare as you can see below, I placed it through a salad, with olive oil!
The total cooking time is about 5 minutes on a grill that is well-heated and ready to receive food. Radicchio can be purchased year round in the store and used shredded or cut in salads as well as this particular recipe. Lavishly live food out loud, enjoying grilled Radicchio a true tasting pleasure for the mouth.
