Mother’s Day is such a big day. I can remember as a child fashioning a card for my mom, wrapping it up, grabbing flowers from outside, tying them up and my dad taking me shopping to get my mom a gift. The day was always representative of a NO WORK day for mom, no laundry, no cleaning, no cooking and just all about mom enjoying us. Mother’s Day is here and as a mom, I am always excited to see what creation is coming my way.
Happy Mother’s Day to you and lavishly live life out loud.
Happy Mother’s Day
Everyone Celebrates Mother’s Day Differently
There is nothing that can ever replace those hand-written notes, the pretty colored cards, the fun little newspaper packages that the kids creatively craft. One of my girlfriends gets upset that her kids create cards, rather than buy her stuff.
In fact, she wants elaborate big brand gifts. She is truly not seeing what I see. However, we just agree to disagree as everyone has their own preferences.
I have never quite understood this, but she feels the bigger the price tag the more they appreciate her.
We Think Differently
I don’t see Mother’s Day as something you can put a price tag on and I don’t like being pushed to have to purchase a gift or go out, I want to move at my own pace just one day and savor the 24 hours that I have to just enjoy being MOM.
Creativity and Kid Life
While I appreciate all the fanfare of the day, it is ludicrous to believe that this day is the only day that honors moms. IN reality, every day that we get a card, a cute note, enjoy a special snuggle, kiss, hug, boo fix or hug for that special meal, it’s MOM’s Day.
You know it is that feeling that you get when you know you made a difference in your kid’s life whether through a meal or a little help.
Mom’s create special days every day, and while we are granted that Happy Mother’s Day one day a year, your day is happy every day when you catch those special smiles, glimpses, hugs and moments that make being a MOM a MOM.
