Helicopter Tour Over The Canadian Rockies

My fear of heights was romanticized and swept away by the glistening, snow-capped Canadian Rockies.  I must have been in some euphoric state to have agreed to get on the Helicopter Tour Over the Canadian Rockies or maybe my evil daredevil twin sister took over my body.

Whatever the reason, I was about to lavishly live travel and touring out loud in a helicopter tour over the Canadian Rockies.  The epic backdrop of Bow Valley and the Mt. Lougheed’s three summit peaks were going to all be at a bird’s eye view below me. Trembling with fear but fueled by the spirit of adventure, I boarded the helicopter!

Prepare to embark on the most awesome 20 minutes of your life  Here’s a quick overview of my helicopter tour over the Canadian Rockies as I lavishly live travel out loud!

Helicopter Tour Over The Canadian Rockies

When it comes to heights, Niagara Falls did me in, tree tops are not my friend and Ferris wheels definitely don’t get my thumbs up.  However, when it comes to bucket-listing stuff, taking on a travel adventure and living to tell the tale to my kids I hike up the big girl britches and suck up my fears.  Of course, as a mom, I have to be able to tell my kids that, “mom did that, you can too, embrace your fears, it makes  you stronger!”

Canmore Municipal Heliport

We entered the Canmore Municipal Heliport area, at the base of the Three Sisters Peaks and adjacent to Banff National Park, an area that is very well-known and celebrated.  Our 25-30  minute journey offered heights, mountain peaks, and unbelievable views of lakes both frozen and not! The opportunity of a lifetime to see so much in such a short period of time!

We flew over glaciers, mountain peaks, learned the history of the area, and now simply feel closer than ever to the Canadian Rocky Mountains! Our pilot was knowledgeable and safety was his primary concern! We passed through some impressive mountain passes that we would never have otherwise seen it was simply amazing!

Let’s Fly

From above we got to see Spray Valley, the Goat Range and Bow River just majestic.

Here is a photo I snapped do you see the other helicopter across from us in the distance?

ADVENTURE IN THE SKY

Really wondering what to expect when you take this type of adventure?

I was a bit worried about safety and really needed to take it easy just a bit!

Once you check in, you get to meet your pilot and see the helicopter!

Once you are on board, you get to hear everything from your two-way headset.

You talk and ask questions and they talk and answer.

The Main Attraction

We passed on through the real meat and potatoes of the Canadian Rocky Mountains within minutes of our ride.

We were really high up there ( I did not want to know, trust me).

The views you are about to capture both with your memory and camera are going to rock the photo world!

Now, here’s a bird’s eye look below us as we were flying, is this just insanely beautiful?

After this photo, what I am sharing with you I never have shared with my kids.

Somewhere between the Wind Mountain and landing, an air pocket dropped us a bit.

While a wind pocket is a norm in this area, and the ride does smooth out, it was just too much for me.

Consequently, for the ending to my tale, until I hit the ground, “that is all she wrote” because I passed out!

LOL~I am not a heights type person but I definitely enjoyed the breathtaking tours over helicopter tour over the Canadian Rockies, they are simply majestic!

Lavishly live travel out loud and if you are in Banff, definitely partake on a helicopter tour so you can see the beauty of the mountains from atop! Get ready for some fantastic views, unlike any others, you will ever see! ~Dana XO

Heights are my weak point too! I think I would be fine once I got up there and saw all the beauty!

I am so proud of you for doing this, even if you do pass out at the last minute… I think meeting our fears is how we grow as a person. You did it once, you can do it again. Beautiful photos!
