I’d like to thank James Hardie Building Products Inc. in conjunction with Blog Meets Brand for sponsoring today’s conversation. Opinions are my own.
Spring has sprung and I am out, about and walking. The nicer the day, the further I stride and with each stride my eyes are more and more acutely aware that change is happening at our neighbors’ homes. Look at what my eyes might spy, how can I help but to not catch admiration fever. We built our home, they built their homes and they were here before us. You know how it happens, you build what you can afford at that time and know that if it is in the cards in the future you will change things up. It appears that my neighbors are changing things up and here’s a warning, admiring the neighbor’s house is completely contagious! While listening to my music and looking with my eyes wide open the change in the appearance of their homes are marvelous. Lavishly live a home spring face lift out loud as some basic changes create an aesthetic integrity through textures, styles and color.
How To Catch Admiration Fever
So now do you know what it is that makes people change what they have? Admiration Fever is how I like to refer to this type of change. You might call it monkey see, monkey do, but really admiration if the highest form of a compliment known in mankind, so join in and catch Admiration Fever. Many of the changes on homes, or those you might most frequently see are via siding and trim. However, there are steps long before deciding on siding and trim that need to be taken, let’s take a peek.
First you need to take a walk around your neighborhood, see what you like on the aesthetics of other’s homes. Do you like a color scheme that the home boasts, or maybe you like the functionality of a side room you don’t have but have space for (functionality). You are getting ready to start your project.
Second take you honey for a walk with you and share what you have found, and share your opinion. Maybe you love a flower garden in the back, or perhaps it is a front walkway that is covered? Point to things you like on different houses, and then see what your home has and is lacking from your list of ‘wants’.
Third and maybe most important look carefully at the textures, styles and colors that are used in each home design you decided fit your taste and admire what it is that captivates your attention to those details.
The siding and trim are the things that you can really use to build in texture, style and color, defining your home and getting that enriched, exterior aesthetic look you are seeking. Change in homes is imminent, in fact, some find homes to be a status symbol and in order to achieve this, you have to maintain a home and add something to it. Sometimes change is brought about by those seeking additional living space for a growing families and other times, you just get the ‘bug’ to redo, maybe as an Empty Nester who is just craving the opportunity to make that ‘dream home’ come true. No matter the reason, you know how to catch admiration fever just by taking a few simple steps outside your door and to your neighbor’s yard as you lavishly live change out loud.
i don’t normally compared what I have with others..but making your home great, why not?
I try not to let admiration get a hold of me, although it is very hard to avoid much of the time. I am quite happy with the home we have right now however I wouldn’t mind making a few minor changes.
This siding is so pretty. We live in an HOA so we are not allowed to change the outside. So I do projects on the interior when I get the remodel bug.
Oh the good old HOA, we have it too, I am so up and down with how I feel about this. 🙂
When watching tv programs in relation to home improvements I always have that admiration. I love to execute some home projects but I am on pause because we are planning to move next year.
Admiration often leads to inspiration which leads to perspiration as you make your vision come true.
Change is inevitable in anything, even in a home. I love the idea of living that change out loud, like you noted. 🙂
I have never compared my home but every year we try to tackle a different project or buy accent pieces to enhance our home’s look!
This post is giving me admiration fever! This siding is beautiful. I keep wanting new gutters. My neighbors just added them to their house and they look great!
I totally get that admiration fever. Who wouldn’t want to have a house that looks just as good as the one next to you or a few houses away from you, right? It makes sense as well, maybe that’s why a lot of people keep working on their homes.
Wow. A lot of work goes into home remodeling. Admiration fever can inspire so much change. Unlimited and in a number of areas. The home used in the Admiration Fever picture is remarkably beautiful.
It’s great to admire others and have a goal to try something new!
I try not to compare what I have to that of others but if I do see something I like I try and work to acheive something similar.
