It was time to go out and visit somewhere new, so we attempted to get there last Saturday night, but they were packed and could not take us, glad I CALLED Ahead and I should have made reservations before this. Fast forward a week and let’s talk about Luke Wholey’s Restaurant on The Strip in Pittsburgh, PA.
Cheers to you as we set off on a new adventure to a different restaurant on the Strip in Pittsburgh, PA!
We arrived, and we met the man I spoke to on the phone, without a question as he was as charming as he was kind! He seated us and our dining experience began. Please note, one side is for dining the other side is a bar, the ambiance is dark on the inside, as you can see from the background in the photos. The ladies room, was conveniently located right behind the dining area. At this time, reservations were suggested, not sure if that is still in place.
The Must Have, as shown above are those lobster bisque fries they are out of this world and perfect to share, in fact it is great to enjoy with a drink before dinner. The bowl definitely has enough for 2 or three people, you have to have room for dinner so no sense hoarding on the fries, right? Personally, I could have made these dinner, but we continued on the Seafood Diet- Seafood and eat it, lol. We started with drinks and Lobster Bisque Fries! These are amazing fries slathered lightly(if that makes sense) with lobster bisque and chunks of lobster and all I can say is, “lobsterliscious!” These come in single or table size(go table size)!
My son decided it was time for Fish N Chips and wow what a platter! If you have a voracious appetite, this is perfect and trust me, he ate as teens do.
Here are our other meals, Salmon stuffed with Crabmeat, and a Seafood Trio. My seafood trio was Lobster, Shrimp and Escalar with mashed red potatoes that had lobster across it!
As for service, it is not knock your socks off, but it is not the worst(as we have read some other write-ups) Our server brought us all we needed and as long as my glass is full of Vino I am happy! The man at the door is the largest asset that the restaurant offers as he did come around at the beginning and make sure if we knew about their foods, and offerings, but beyond that the waiting staff is not exceptional. We read a lot of reviews before we went to eat here, and I think they all have stated fairly the same things. The food is outstanding there was more than enough staff on hand.
The bar hops and as the night wears on it gets busier and busier! Are we headed back? We will go back for delicious meals yes, but we will call ahead and reserve our time or we will just hang at the bar and try that out. The prices are right in line with what you would pay anywhere else for a nice meal! The lobster meal above was about $35. There are no salads included with the meals, those are all additional.
Kids and Night Dining on the Weekends
Tip- Make it a night out for a date, not with the kids. While they are welcome to go, remember you are in a bar area.. Nuf’ said!
I do not think this is the best place to bring children on the weekend, as it is more conducive to adult-type atmosphere, but there is a kids menu and it is good. My kids had far too many questions about what was happening at the bar and why the Santa’s Elf was really not wearing much, so I think it is best left for day time dining with kids or not with kids at all! Kids offerings are on the menu, but I think it would be a last choice to take them back here, this is more reserved for adults, in addition, kids cups would be a welcome addition. You will find great seafood, but the waiting staff is what will leave you guessing!
This is a great place to dine, less the service and it could have just been our server or it could have been all the way around, as others were sitting for a while without food. The food is delicious, so that is a plus. I believe the determiner here is if you are after perfect service or great food, I generally like a good combo, but again, we will return for the food alone and a trip to the bar. The fare here is FRESH and that is key to remember and what sets this eatery apart from those other ‘fish’ places. Here’s to lavishly living food and dining out loud at a delicious Seafood Restaurant.
