My memories of Myrtle Beach are fond as growing up this was a regular choice destination for my family and returning with my own children was a truly great experience. Yes things have changed, but it is not change it is how thing are evolving that makes a prime choice for those with families, the want for fun and relaxation to come to each year. I like the more quiet, beach available section of Myrtle Beach, where we have been staying, down at The Crown Reef Resort about 40 blocks away from the Sky Wheel and the Boardwalk.
The Crown Reef is a jewel of a resort and close to everything from shopping to the highway. We have 2 main roads to get back and forth to all the fun, but the one road that is most worth discussing is the little road that ‘bridges’ our resort to the road of relaxation day or night.
***Warning**** Caution ***** There is no end to the fun in the sun when you cross this bridge as you can walk, wave jump, shell pick, shell hunt, build sand castles, fish, jet ski, parasail and more.
We had lots of fun just writing out names in the sand on the shoreline and watching them disappear as though we had never been there. We tried to write closer to the water as quick as we could before the next wave would break, just as an attestment to our writing skills, but the water usually won.
Of course there are all the fun water sports that the people on the beach line up for everyday and the water takes control of the sport. In our case, anything you could possibly want to do was right next to our resort so getting on a jet ski was a few steps away.
For those of you who don’t like building sandcastles, moats, trap holes or sitting in the sand, you can always take the brdge back to the pool and swim in the lazy river or one of the several pools on the Crown Reef Resort property.
Beach life goes on day long and night long. People were coming back from the beach at 11p at night, with all their chairs, totes and bags as it is an day long attraction. Our favorite part of course was not just the and all the activiites but watching the sky reflect on the ocean at night.
Family fun, that provides on-beach and in pool adventures day long awaits you at Myrtle Beach. If you are fortunate enough to stay at the Crown Reef Resort then you can also enjoy all the fun activities on the property. Each day on the beach we watched people comb for shells with different homemade apparatus: one lady had a strainer duct taped to a broom stick, another guy had a zip lock bag with holes poked in it and yet another a very fine mesh bag and each time the water came in they all used their homemade items to catch and pan for shells. Were they lucky to get anything? I believe the earlier the better and then the later the better. There were seashell hunts at night with iPhone flashlight apps and families just sitting on the beach with radios enjoying the crashing waves and the occasional run into the ocean. Just be prepared to have fun on the beach day and night and choose how active you want to be. You are sure to find something for everyone to enjoy as Myrtle Beach is a family destination.
