Life goes by in the blink of an eye. As I look back at my daughter’s life starting at age zero, and now her age of 18 time has just flown by. I am so grateful for each and every day that I got to spend as much time with her as I did. The dance, recitals, piano lessons, sports classes, nail sessions, and after-school activities that I hustled her to were all possible because I work for myself and I am so lucky to be afforded this opportunity. The jobs that many moms at home crave, those that offer flexible work hours with great incomes don’t seem to exist, or exist only for those that have stayed in the workforce. Some of the work situations that I have heard about are just plain awful as the hours are so far from conducive for child-raising and the income is so much less than your fair market value, please, read this article! I am personally here to share with you an extraordinary story today about Northwood for Moms, one that will make everyone reading it envious of those who work there, and I bet a few readers will converge and enlist to work there! Heck I want to be part of the Northwood For Moms.
Since my first child was born, to my last, my life has been so busy, that some days I don’t even come up for air. The laundry mounts, and the dishes stack, but as long as I am busy, it can all wait. In between work, phone calls, and appointment, I make time to put everything else on hold and for years I have made that my official “MOM” appointment time with my daughter and sons, that’s what a mom does, she juggles, and makes her schedule work. Built-in flexibility is so nice to have as it allowed me the option to take my children to their activities, and watch their successes & failures as this is how they have learned what life is about. My life would not have been nearly the same if I would have stayed with the job I had. Lavishly live life out loud with the tale of Northwood For Moms.
The Bad Employer
We all know an employer like this: I once worked for a wildly popular wireless carrier and their job share was unforgiving for moms. Job share, while offered was really just a joke and they had no interest in entertaining it. I decided to cut back on a very corporate job right after my daughter had been born and I had asked to job share with another lady. She and I discussed the work combinations, who could work which days, and a set schedule, we presented, we were organized, and very good at what we did. We both knew we could make it work, as did the company but the wireless company would not yield to our request, and we both quit. They lost a years of experience losing both of us, but the company did not care. We were accomplished moms with great careers, earning nice incomes, but we dumped it to take care of our kids. Should this have been this way? Absolutely not.
