Say Hello to travel and meet my travel companions, that allow me to stuff them full of all those vacation and travel needs while resisting whatever the airport dishes out. What brand do I trust when I am out and about traveling on vacations?
TO say that I travel a lot is a bit of an understatement, because when I am not traveling for work, I am traveling for hockey and when I am not traveling for hockey I am traveling for events, so I am kind of on-the-go all the time. Over the last few months, I have lived out of my luggage, packing, repacking, flying, getting to events and more and my luggage is the staple and the heartbeat of my ability to travel with ease. I will say, packing is my arch enemy because I plan, debate, organize, re-organize and then plan it all out again, I guess that is the downside of being obsessive-compulsive, nothing is ever right and the check and recheck system always have me questioning myself. The brighter side of packing is the fashion that I will sling by my side, over my head(stowed in the luggage compartment) and in the trunk of my car, in reality, the luggage is more like toting around your pet on a leash, as you NEVER want it out of your site and it has to be able to move. I have a brand that is lavishly withstands the beating an airport can throw at it, provides colors that are great for both men and women, and offers functionality and features that make me happy. This is how I lavishly live fashion, packing and travel out loud, and the brand that I have chosen let’s me traverse with ease and a bit of style.
Each piece of Eagle Creek that I own, brings me closer to packing sanity than I have ever been. As I have alluded to I am obsessive compulsive and if you know anything about packing, you know that when you are traveling with a family the last thing you want to do is be disorganized or you will spend more time running to the store to grab what your forgot that you will at the pool enjoying the sun or on the slopes skiing the trails! I love the pockets, the space the ruggedness of this luggage and just have to share so you might consider this brand when you travel.
A Place For Everything and Everything In Its Place -Eagle Creek
My first introduction to Eagle Creek arrived a few years back, it was simple, in fact it was a packing system that allowed me really organize my lingerie, socks, belts, shirts and so on. The more I used the Eagle Creek Pro packing pieces in my luggage the more I liked it. Organization became as easy as 1-2-3 and the pieces were made to last, durable, rugged zippers, and little compartmented sacks that allowed me to really get down and dirty with the packing!
The organizational elements do not stop there, take a look at these Pack-It pieces, they will have you keeping everything sorted, together and clean! These will keep your socks, and lingerie together and there are a lot of choices in sizes, and don’t forget the little handle makes them so easy to grab and go!
Each piece of luggage harvests its own traits in the Eagle Creek line and I have put some serious mileage on my Eagle Creek Luggage. I do believe you should first figure out if you are a 2 wheel kind of person or a 4 wheel, and that will help you tighten down what options you have. You also want to know what size you are in need of. I would never trade my Eagle Creek
Eagle Creek Gateway Collection
Think of luggage and compare it to a good Thanksgiving meal. Luggage that can expand after being stuffed is priceless, just like pants that unzip after a meal that filled your belly way beyond its tipping point. I travel, I am a shopping kinda girl and I need expansion rights. Meet my collection, it is the Travel Gateway Collection from Eagle Creek. The main compartment EXPANDS on this by about 15% and I have 2 outside pockets for organization rather than one! The luggage wheels pulls and does not fall because the wheels are multi-directional creating a non-friction pull.
I love the handle on the side, because if you do happen to check it in at the airport, when it comes off the belt, the handle is padded so this feels great in the palm of my hand. The other side of this is when I stow it over my head int he plane, grabbing is easy, solid and you are reassured it is actually IN your hand because it is prominent without being bulky. The retractable handle works with ease on call, every time and when you change directions in the airport, the luggage does not tip because the wheels follow. I will describe this one in detail later in this piece, so read on for more information.
This particular 22″ piece is definitely slim, attractive, and maneuverable luggage- woot woot for Eagle Creek. Now let’s take a look at a bigger piece, you know the kind, you don’t carry-on, but you really fill up?
Travel Gateway Upright 25 17x25x12 Total Weight – 7 lbs 10 0z Eagle Creek
This piece in my opinion is the perfect travel luggage for a 5 day trip, maybe even more. I got stuff in here beyond what I thought I would and could. For one trip my husband and I went into this bag together, and then for another, I mixed both the 22″ carry-on and the this bag to really haul my stuff! The main compartment of the luggage(the inside) expands up to 15% which increases packing space and there are 2 exterior pockets. We used one pocket for bathing suits and one for flip flops( a few pairs). There are wheels on this piece of luggage and they number 4. The wheels are multi-directional which made it easy for my 13 year old to pull and push and effortless for me. When you are all packed up you can simply grab the handles that are padded(and carry horizontally or vertically) or extend the pull handle and stroll. Did I mention that the corners on this luggage, unlike many pieces out on the market offered corner bumpers and Bi-Tech™bottom which protects the bag from the crushing punishment at the airport and from the kids sitting on it. The colors of the luggage are brilliant blue and red which make them easily recognizable.
The Upright 22 14 x 22 x 10 – Eagle Creek
This piece is perfect for kids or adults needing a carry-on. I also found my 10 year old could easily be packed up for a whole trip with his extra shoes, his jackets, a few hoodies, shirts, jeans, swim trunks, flip flops and a plethora of other items. It was ideal for a 5 day trip packing and the handle easily extended and worked so easily for him that it made it possible for him to manage his own luggage. Again, there are 2 handles both vertically and horizontally and each handle is padded. The advantage of being able to grab the luggage from any position is nice, unlike traditional luggage. The zippers are tough and can really withstand a child that opens, tugs, and pulls, believe me, I watched my child doing this. The Bi-Tech™ Bottom is a strip of material that protects the bag from all kinds of weather and it is on this entire collection(think airports, salt, rain, slush, etc). If the weather hits the bag, the BiTech withstands the elements, so the items inside are not saturated, and ruined. (I am not advising immersing a bag, simply passing through a smaller puddle or weather element). As you know kids are famous for pulling things where they should now, so if they move through a puddle of pop, don’t worry, the bag can take it.
The insides of the bags offers compression straps to pull tight and compress the items in. Additionally, if you need more space, the outside zipper allows you 15% more space when you unzip it. Let’s say you bought a few sweatshirts and you need to jam them in the bag, pull those compression straps tight, and let the zipper go. Again, this is like the Thanksgiving prophecy fulfilled by a simple unzip.
Would I recommend this luggage to anyone out there looking for a great piece of luggage to go the long mile? Absolutely. Which piece or size should you buy? All of them as each will lend itself to a different type of trip. If you are traveling by plane, train, ship, or automobile you will need luggage that will work for you and stand up to the elements, and this is the luggage you want to buy! A frugal consumer will get a lifetime of use out of this quality luggage.
I have personally packed this luggage up for overnights, 5 day trips, flights, and packed my kids in it for days, depending on where we were going and what our needs were. We own over 7 pieces of this luggage, and each person has their favorite feature, favorite color and reason that they tote the brand around. Our trips, everywhere we go would not be the same, and our contents would not travel as well, if they were not in these bags, that I am sure. We have used so many different sets of luggage, brands, store brands, national brands, but Eagle Creek truly has not only a large selection but an inventory that has great options for every traveler. I lavishly live travel, packing, organization and adventures out loud with Eagle Creek Luggage by my side. What is your favorite brand of luggage? Why? I’d love to hear from you.
