No one chooses to age, it happens whether we want to or not. The reality is as we move through our thirties into our forties, skin changes, hair color changes, wrinkles happen, our lips change and our bodies as aging women want to ‘expand’ and our life becomes a fight for what WAS. Vanity is something lost when we birth children, or was that humility of a cross of both, whichever the case it seems that if you can accept that first gray hair, that first fine line, you might be able to make it over the line of 40 without a breakdown. Honestly, aging is not only a physical process it is very mental and giving in to an eye exam to me was anything but great. The reality of life, busy schedules and an aging body creates the need for a retail establishment that provides eye exams beyond the normal 9-5 workday so we can get there and have that much needed eye exam. I do believe this eye exam has changed my perspective on how I see things and it was long overdue! When reality smacks you in the face and you learn that what you thought is not.. it’s time to Lavishly live health and wellness out loud as I take you for a quick look at what eye visit consists of for a whopping $19 at a nationwide establishment. A lavish little indulgence that can really change how you will see things!
I was offered the opportunity to try out the eye exams provided at Visionworks and I headed in, not knowing what to really expect as I had not done this in about 3 years. After all I am a strong woman, and a mom, nothing goes wrong with me, right? Once in the store, I met up with the associate in charge of checking people in, I gave my name and filled out this paperwork, sins glasses::))(please note the pride in my tone). Did I mention that these eye exams are just $19 right now? What a deal.
First we did a test where I looked into a machine and saw a beautiful red barn on a beach moving towards me and away from me and then we moved to the next machine where my eyes were puffed with a burst of air! Next up we hit the books where I was given these funny looking glasses(resembling 3D) to distinguish numbers a midst a blur of dots and to see if I could find the raised object in a series of photos. I am happy to declare I succeeded this little challenge. Now onto the eye exam.
First I was asked if I was having any trouble with my vision and my last eye exam. No of course I am not having any trouble with my eyes, I can see the television readouts perfectly, nothing on my computer blurs and reading my eReaders is always perfectly delightful, even though the wrinkle in the middle of my forehead is saying otherwise.
Quickly met with a challenge I could hold back no more, I began to fail, not being able to read the lines in front of my face, on the wall, etc. As the Dr. changed the focus, and added lenses, it magically happened, I was able to see the lines, and see the letters and actually focus and read. The misconception of letters became the conceptualization of the alphabet and I was able to recite what I saw, I was so excited I actually was giddy and kind of forgot the end result… Glasses. That is a whole other story that we will leave untold for now!
