Starting into a new year is a clean slate for us to improve so many different areas of our lives. If you are considering changing up or modifying your eating habits, you definitely want to read on to learn the reasons we need to take dietary supplements.
Dietary supplements are hardly a new ‘thing’ but they are trending now as many believe that popping a supplement will make up the difference for what their body is lacking, but this is just not the case.
Dietary supplements don’t solve our bad eating habits. However, when you try to reboot your eating habits and add in supplements suddenly you create a diet that has nutritional value. Mixtures of a well-balanced diet with the right dietary supplements are the gold standard for our bodies. Lavishly live food and life out loud and let’s learn the reasons we need to take dietary supplements.
What Are Dietary Supplements?
I use dietary supplements on a regular basis, and while this post is sponsored by Mom It Forward Influencer Network on behalf of CRN, I only present products and ideas that I truly believe will benefit each of you. In fact, did you know that so many of us take part in bad eating habits which in turn don’t allow our bodies to absorb the nutrients we need? Not having all the nutrients, minerals, vitamins and herbs we need can impair our body’s ability to absorb these from the foods we eat, thus we need to supplement our diet.
Dietary Supplement Forms
Dietary Supplements come in different forms: liquid, powder, pill, or bars. This makes dietary supplements a personal choice for each person using them and gives variety. These supplements can be vitamins, minerals, herbs or nutrients that our bodies need to function at its optimum ability.
Dietary Supplements are ingested by mouth and they add nutritional value to our day-to-day diet, however, these supplements are not substitutes for a well-balanced, healthy diet. The dietary supplements are meant to enhance our good food choices and help to add back in the vitamins, nutrients, minerals and herbs that we are lacking.
Most Popular Dietary Supplements
According to a 2016 Annual Consumer Survey on Dietary Supplements conducted by CRNUSA.ORG (the Council Responsible for Nutrition), the five most popular supplements are vitamin D, vitamin C, multivitamin, Calcium and vitamin B/B complex.
I personally take Magnesium, calcium, vitamin D, COQ10 and probiotics so I found this all interesting and reaffirming that I am not the only one into my supplements.
Reasons We Need To Take Dietary Supplements
Bad eating habits lead to our body’s inability to absorb the much-needed nutrients, minerals, and vitamins we should be getting. Never believe that there is a perfect diet because no one has that perfect diet we all need to fill in the missing components as we go.
Dietary Supplements add nutritional value to our everyday diets and it is important to have all the necessary vitamins, minerals and nutrients in our diets so that our bodies function at their maximum potential My favorite parallel between nutrients, vitamins, and minerals is comparing your body to a car.
If you give your car the cheapest gas, don’t change the oil on time, and don’t rotate the tires, it may function temporarily, but day by day, it begins to diminish in its ability to perform. When you give your car the care it needs, oil changes, good gas, and tire rotation you get optimum performance from it. This is exactly how vitamins, nutrients, and minerals work.

You are so right about this, no matter how well you eat and take care of yourself, there is always something our bodies need. I am going to grab some dietary supplements that work best for me next time at the drug store!

Dietary supplements are a great way to make sure you are getting all the nutrients you need. I have been trying to look for some new ones to try.
I regularly take a multivitamin-mineral supplement. However, my doctor recently prescribed mega doses of Vitamin B12 for me to take to address the transient cramping in my legs and also for the occasional numbness in my fingers. I think taking dietary supplements is a good habit, because we cannot possibly eat that much food to get the RDA of some vitamins and minerals.
I take a few dietary supplements, like probiotics and sometimes vitamin D, like in the winter. The right supplements can make a big difference.
I make sure I take my vitamins everyday. I always take a multivitamin, vitamin D3, Calcium, and fish oil. That combo keeps me feeling really great.
This is great information. I really need to start taking some. I am bad about not eating all that healthy especially on the weekends.
I take a multi vitamin every day. My doctor said that was all I needed 🙂
Although I lack in other areas of taking care of my health, I take dietary supplements everyday. It’s something my mom instill in me from a young age. Now, I take Centrum, biotin, vitamin C, and cod liver oil supplements. Keeps my skin, hair, and insides clean.
I need to start doing this. I get started and stop and it needs to be a routine.
I never have on mind to use dietary supplements. I am scared of body reaction.
I have never taken a dietary supplement, mostly because of my lack of knowledge about them along with the fact that I was kinda scared of popping something harmful in my stomach. Thanks for this helpful post!
