We travel so much as a family, and one thing is for certain, rest is a must. Sometimes when we travel, we have stayed in places that make it a bit hard to actually sleep and rest and before you know it, everyone is cranky, miserable and no one can really get along as well as they should. When you are then jammed in on each other, every motion, and noise is intensified, so when little Bobbie moves the covers from his brother Billy a small war begins. Then there is the hunger pangs that happen after you have already fed the kids, been out to dinner and no one really ate, even though you just bought a meal for everyone. What happens with those meals? What happens with those hunger pains? Well, I can tell you this, if you are staying at The Residence Inn, there are simple answers to all of this. Lavishly live a small tale of comfort at your local Residence Inn.
Sleep & Temperament With The Residence Inn
Doesn’t he look comfortable and so tiny, lost in that big, amazing, comfy looking bed? If you are guessing he slept well and was very pleasant the next day, you would be right!
I don’t care who you are, all of us have kids and it is only a natural thing that tiredness brings on crankiness when they are tired, and it can get totally unnerving and annoying. Crankiness just happens when sleep is not administered in the right doses, my goodness adults get crabby and take issue with each other when they are sleep depraved. It just seems like travel and lack of rest kind of go hand-in-hand but they don’t have to. Here’s the thing, no matter how much you plan out a great trip and no matter what your budget is, the place you should not cut corners is on your sleeping accommodations.
As an a Mom with a good bit of traveling under her belt(lol) I have to say that dirty beds, dirty towels, smelly rooms, crowding kids on kids and adults on adults and everyone jamming on one bathroom is miserable and only lends to disaster the following day. When you find a room, and tell the family: ” I know it seems like we are all going to be squashed in one room…” Stop that conversation right there, squashing 5 people in a room with one bathroom, no fridge, and 2 beds is going to be a virtual nightmare. Kids can’t just sleep on each other, tiredness leads to hunger, but when you go to eat, hunger is surpassed by exhaustion and you pay a bill for food that no one can even consume because their heads are ready to fall into their bowls. Now what do you do with the food that you just paid for, the left-overs that you can’t tote and what do you do for those sleepyheads to make them less exhausted, more rested and less likely to duke it out? Take them to Residence Inn.
A True Tale Without The Residence Inn
My husband and I took the kids with us, not so long ago, in one of my unpublished treks. It was a beautiful resort, but…. there were 5 of us, one room, one bathroom, an additional stow-away bed tossed in the room, no where to move and everyone heard everyone all night long, no one slept and then we headed to a massive amusement park. My husband ended up with a massive migraine(really) from lack of sleep, my daughter ended up totally sick in her stomach and my son ordered food, and so tired from not sleeping pretty much fell into his plate, and we carried him back to the room. We also had the food packed up, but had no fridge to put it, which led to more waste. I swore we would never again accept an accommodation with less than the proper amount of bedding, and bathrooms, as well as a way to feed the kids when needed and that is when I can proudly proclaim The Residence Inn sets the gold standard for rest, and food accommodations.
The Residence Inn offers a full kitchen in all of it’s rooms, with a fridge, table, chairs, cabinets, silverware, dishwasher, cups, glasses, coffee pot, etc. and a microwave. In the event that you forget a snack, there is popcorn in the room and there is coffee for the coffee maker. They will also grocery shop and fill your room food stock up without a problem.
If for some reason, you drove a long way, stopped for food and the kids did not eat, and you just happen to bring the food back to the room, guess what, there is a refrigerator waiting for you as well as a microwave, oven and stove, so Hello Left-Overs at midnight when the kids someone get that second wind and appetite!
Beds for Everyone – The Residence Inn
The sleeping aspect is most important for the driver, the tour guide of the trip or the person working while you travel, but don’t forget it is priceless for all the little troopers your brought with you. Without additional crankiness, you can really have a great trip. In The Residence Inn, we choose a room that offers a Mom/Dad room, and then an traditional room for the kids, as well as a sitting room that has a fold-out couch. Everyone is accommodated and we have 2 bathrooms as well, so there is no need to run for it, when you gotta go! The rooms are all comfortable, offer cushy, plush beds and pillows that are clean and the bathrooms offer shower/tub combos and sinks separate from the bathroom area, so if the kids are sharing, someone can use the toilet as well as the shower, while the other is out taking care of hair and makeup(can you tell I have boys and girls). There is a way to work everlasting out and there is no fighting.
