You know the rules of a kitchen clearly state, “waste not, want not!” and I am a firm believer in the rules.  Once Veganistic I truly know how to squeeze the water out of a rock, so to speak.  In a kitchen, any ingredient that can’t be eaten in the state it is in, requires a bit of thrift, a lavish recipe(with 2 ingredients) and of course the ability to transition any possible wasted food into a new creation! The other day I was greeted by a fruit drawer brimming with apples, but some of them were bruised and others were just beyond the firm expectations I have of a crisp apple. My solution was not to toss all the apples out, nor did I feel like baking a pie, rather I grabbed those apples, pulled out my 2 Qt Sauce Pan and cover and set to work to create delicious spiced apple slices.  This is free of any preservatives or added sugar.  If you have read anything from my site before you know I am all about the ease of preparation yielding a lavish taste and today’s Spiced Apple Slices will amaze you and let you lavishly live food out loud!

Spiced Apple Slices

I want to make sure to tell you that I was not going for perfection here, and you will see that when I peeled the apples, sometimes there is a tad of skin on them, that is fine, this is just basic cooking that uses ingredients up creating a lovely side dish. This dish by no means calls for overly-crafted culinary skills.

Easy prep in a great 2 Qt Sauce Pan from Calphalon.  The even heating, and from the layers of nonstick keep the food not sticking to the pot and evenly cooked.  I place the lid on and it steamed this perfectly.  The tempered glass lid makes it possible for me to see what is happening in the pan while the cooking progresses and I never have to take the lid off or lose temperature.  This offers stainless steel handles, and can be used on gas or electric.  The Calphalon’s 2 Qt Sauce pan could be used for warming up soup for 2 or boiling milk, it is just the perfect solution to smaller amounts!

Clean up that fruit drawer, grab those pieces of fruit that don’t look just right when cut up, yet offer a delicious flavor when cut up, chunked, sliced and then cooked.  Lavishly live food out loud with this easy to create recipe in your kitchen and enjoy Spiced Apple Slices.

Recipe, images and story are my own, and pan was provided by PR Firm.
