Turning 16 is such a bitter-sweet time, that transitional stage of life between the beginning of adulthood yet clearly not being able to command everything in their lives!
Since 16 is such a special birthday, I was super excited when I spoke with Piercing Pagoda and they had arranged a Girls Night Out for her Sweet 16.
My daughter had been asking for her 2nd piercing and we had placed this on indefinite hold for the last few years, just because we did not feel that it was necessary.
16 is a special age and should be commemorated with something special and Piercing Pagoda thought that too, and so a Girl’s Night Out with my daughter and a few of her friends came into fruition.
I had just gotten off the phone with Piercing Pagoda and I went outside to tell my daughter that she and her friends had just been invited to a Piercing Party that would be hosted at the Piercing Pagoda of our choice.

We placed calls to her friends and we explained that a parent had to be present for the piercing in order to sign the consent.
The day of the event, we arrived about 20 minutes ahead of my daughter’s friends so she could spend time checking out all the different earring options.
We did know that it is better to get 14K or Surgical Steel when piercing, and my daughter has allergies to anything other than 14K so she based her choices on those earring that matched up to 14K!
There were a lot of offerings and it took her a while but the earrings below are what she decided to choose, because the bigger the back earring the bigger the front earring!

The manager of Piercing Pagoda, Dawn is my long time friend, and what I realized when we came home is that she originally pierced my daughter’s ears when she was very young.
It is ironic that fast forward 16 years and she is piercing her again! Dawn the manager of the Ross Park Mall Piercing Pagoda and her assistant manager Jessica were ready and waiting for our party to begin and as the her friends arrived with their parents and boyfriends, the piercing party began!
I was of course asked to ditch the camera by mall security(laugh, laugh) and I still managed to get you a few great shots of what was going on!
Sparkling ears would abound at the end of this party! Friendship and strength made the jittery girls calm and they each hung out as they got pierced one by one!
Some of the girls got triple pierced, and some cartilidge and they all were smiling and sparkling when we were done!
Of course it would not have been a party without me trying it out myself, and all I can tell you is that it happened so fast I did not even blink and my ears were re-pierced!

What I can tell you is that the party was a lot of fun and the care taken of each person was perfect!
Each lady was given a choice of earrings, and before Dawn or Jessica pierced they checked and re-checked to make certain that the holes were even!
There was no real pain, it was a super quick process, and if you are scared make sure there are 2 people on staff and get pierced at the same time!
All the girls love their new piercings and it is a great way to celebrate a special occasion!
