Tips For Including Your Pet In The Holiday Festivities

The holidays hit fast and furious and each day we hit the ground running.  Our pets take the brunt of the craziness as we hustle and bustle to get things done.  Sometimes their exercise routines get changed, sometimes there is no exercise at all.  Other days, inbound company takes our attention away from our time with our pets and trust me, it’s not fine with our pets.

While house pets are the most loving, wonderful creatures, change is not something any of them appreciate.  It’s important to keep your pets comfortable during the holidays and my tips for including your pets in the holiday festivities should help.

Lavishly live the most wonderful time of the year out loud and see if you can use my tips for including your pets in the holiday festivities to make it a great time!

Tips For Including Your Pet In The Holiday Festivities

Remembering Their Affection

Pets need affection and Bella the cat sure reminds us with all of her rubbing and chattings.  She makes more noise than the kids when she wants the pet and tended too.

It’s important to set aside a bit of time, even just 5 minutes a day during the holidays to give the pets the attention they need from a brushing to a small walk, they just need you.

Lights, Decorations, Craziness

Be patient with your pets because all the lights on the trees and the decorations that are in ‘their way’ comes with a price.  Your pets have become creatures of habit and they like things the way they know them, not in new places.  If you take over an area they generally play in remember this was ‘their spot’ and they may need some time to stop ‘stealing’ the ornament from the tree (lol)

Stuff Their Stockings

Just like the kids, pets need a stocking too.  You want to supply your pet with great wholesome nutritionally sound snacks that you can feed to them with confidence.

For us, we use the holidays as a time of the year to stuff Bella’s stocking with the treats she loves from   BLUE™ Wilderness like the Wild Cuts that offer Tasty Duck Morsels in a savory gravy.  We give her this to the top of her food and she loves it.  As soon as she sees this in her stocking she will go crazy!

We mix up canned foods, treats, toppers, bagged food and of course bags of treats, all things Bella is sure to love.  We feel good about giving Bella these foods, and treats because BLUE Buffalo is a solid food that offers protein rich food with no By-products.

A Little Bit About BLUE Wilderness

The BLUE Wilderness recipe is pet perfect as it was inspired by the diet of wolves for dogs and the wild lynx for cats, the truest of omnivores whose endurance is legendary.  BLUE Wilderness offers a protein-rich, grain free line of food, treats, toppers and more that offer delicious meats that I know your pets will love.  Bella the cat is so picky and she just runs to the bags to see what we have for her!

The holidays are the time of year that allow us to make sure that she has a stocking stuffed with all the treats she loves.  We spoil Bella the cat with all things BLUE Buffalo.

Anyone that has a pet knows that the holiday wouldn’t be the same if they didn’t spoil their fur babies too. They are part of the family.

My dog is a big part of our family life and, of course, of Christmas too. Each year we bake his favourite liver treats, pop them in a kitchen roll tube along with some scrunched paper, wrap wrapping paper around the tube, twist the ends and – voila! – a Christmas crack for him to pull apart to find the treats. He loves it! He really loves unwrapping his other presents too. The hard thing is getting him to understand that he can’t unwrap the humans’ presents too!

I never thought about how taking the pet’s space could ill affect them, lol. I am laughing because we moved the cat’s home today to put up the tree. 😉

Great tips! I have two kitties! Luckily they don’t mess with the tree. They do love batting around ornaments though, ha.

How lovely are those! I always give our family cat a treat during Christmas, something that he’ll enjoy and have fun with! He’s a part of the family and it would be nice to make him feel special this season as well.

These are excellent tips! We include our pets in all our holiday shenanigans, so we tend to make it all pet friendly. Each pet even has their own stocking! Lots of goodies in there each year for each one. I will have to get some of these!
