As you pack up the car and get ready to hit the roads, did you really plan where you might be staying?
In fact, sometimes a bit of distance from the relatives in between all the holiday festivities is a good thing.
You know as nice as it is to head home and see Mom and Dad, it is actually just as nice to claim a space that you might call your own for a while.
We all know how hard it is to move back in with your parents as a family!
Avoid disasters that happen when the kids are over-stimulated and under-rested.
No one wants to be seeking any chair you can after a night of sleep on a less than the great mattress.
Nor do you want to worry about your kids’ every move about Gramma’s house with her ‘treasures’.
After chatting to a few good friends we got down and dirty with talk about the holidays, travel.
Our choice is to remain sane during the holidays and staying with your parents or your partner’s!
My thought on lavishly traveling quickly turned to a stay at the Residence Inn because sometimes a bit of distance while staying close is a good thing!
Traveling with a side of Uh-Oh and Where’s the Wine?
Once you move out, think about it, life for your parents really changes and suddenly they get into their own routine.
The calendar continues to click forward and before you know it, it is a holiday and time to visit Mom and Dad!
While you are all too happy to pack up your little darlings and launch them all on your parents, don’t forget Mom and Dad have not had kids running around in their house for a while!
Is everyone going to handle this or is it going to be joy the first day then sudden awfulness the next?
The joy of the season is quickly turned down for some that have to travel back home and stay with their parents.
Your kids and you have developed a life and you need space. That space may not be gramma’s and grandpa’s house.
To survive there, you have to respect their new routines and a new space. Is that a big ‘uh-oh’ waiting to happen?
Bring on the case of wine, because you are gonna need it if you all stay together!
A Story of Not Using Travel With The Residence Inn
My one girlfriend went to take her kids home and found out her parents turned her room into the office of their dreams.
Another of my other friends found a new aquarium in their room, leaving them stuck in the middle of an ocean that did not float.
However, her room transformation journey did not stop at the aquarium, her mattress could have floated as they pulled out an inflatable for a 5 days stay.
Talk about deflating the fun!
Needless to say, you can tell, each of my friends had really horrible accommodations, tired kids and backs that hurt after that stay.
If only their parents just would have said, ” why don’t you stay close by!”
Avoid Issue and Travel With The Residence Inn
My other fun story is that the kids got hold of Grandpa’s shaving lotion.
Her kids have fun foam for the tub and they see their mom clean it up with ease.
Why would the kids hesitate to use what looked like the same thing at Grammas? They wouldn’t but should have!
The grandkids decided to spread the love all over the toilet seat, and vanity and let’s just say Gramma handed her daughter a rag to clean it up.
Then she proceeded to put each of her grandchildren in a chair to spend the next few hours in.
My girlfriend said, “no more, we need our own space!”
Solve The Home Away From Home Issue and Travel With The Residence Inn.
The holidays can be spent together and you can be refreshed.
The Residence Inn is in many locations around the USA.
In fact, they offer awesome family accommodations, large rooms, multiple beds (if chosen) and comfortable mattresses.
There’s a kitchenette and morning coffee right in your own room.
Say NO to going home and staying there and yes, to a home away from home, The Residence Inn.
Lavishly live the holidays out loud, close to home, yet far enough away that the spirit of the holiday will shine on for more than one day and you won’t feel stressed.~ Dana XO
