It’s travel time and that means packing up the kids and some of their fun stuff to do while you drive, but how do you transport fun arts and crafts items that allow them to express their creativity yet not create a mess in the car? Do you pack bags of markers or bins of crayons? Where do you put the paper? Do you bring tablets? What about glue sticks that dry clear and wash off with cold water(just in case they decide to glue things they should not). Check out what I have discovered for those summer drives that will let your kids create and not create a mess in your car. Get ready to do traveling with office supplies to keep those kids happy and the drive fun!
Office supplies are often the perfect fix for kids to produce their favorite crafts and we all have them around our home. This is one that I had to get into my home, in pink, it is the SlimMate Storage Clipboard, and my daughter loves to stow things like Glue Style Pen and an additional recycled Clipboard(for her little brother to use) inside of the SlimMate.
The Glue N Style Pen offers an all purpose glue that does not wrinkle paper and washes out with cold water. This is perfect when they start gluing pieces of paper together to make a map chain, as they recreate where we are traveling with pieces from our tourbooks.
The SlimMate Storage Clipboard stores things nicely and keeps everything together, but better yet, it is nice and sturdy for paper writing and she loves to write stories. The mini recycled clipboard is perfect for my younger son who is smaller and only needs a small area to work on. He uses the Glue stic that is blue when it goes on but dries clear. It is acid free and non-toxic and it lets his little craft projects(like gluing napkins together) work perfectly!
One last piece of fun that the kids get to use when we travel and it is an office supply that we keep with us everywhere we go: UHU Tac removable, reusable, Adhesive Putty. This is perfect for those lodging places that don’t cover all the cracks with their blinds, just add this in a little ball and then stick a piece of paper and you have the crack covered. You don’t ruin anything because while it sticks perfectly it is not permanent. When we are driving if too much sun is blaring through the windows the kids simply put a piece of this up on their window and a piece of construction paper and the light is blocked more or less, allowing less sun on them and less whining from the backseat(lol– moms that drive their kids everywhere understand this).
