My thanks to KOHL’S for the Gift Cards that were provided to facilitate this fall fashion discussion
The heat of the summer is fairly well gone and even when the sun blares into the windows, it is not offering the warmth it once did. As the seasons begin to change and the summer sun turns into a fall glow, it is time to open up my closet doors and dust off the warmer tones of clothing for the fall season. If you closet is like mine, each year you accumulate a bit more, but you also weed out the old. I take my signal for the season from the less warm air that is around and the cool nights that dip into the forties and below. Shorts, and summer skirts, lightweight material and my whites are all being stowed for next season and in exchange it is time to pull out those warm hues for fall: oranges, plums, navies, blacks, greens and more. As I started sifting through my closet I found a few of my favorite pieces that I have worn over and over, the more classic pieces, but I also have begun taking note that I need a few updates to rock the fall fashion. I got the feeling in my knees and put my purse and keys in my hand, it was time to do with I love, SHOP for fashion till I drop. I headed to KOHL’S for some new fall fashion and I was lavishly living life out loud when KOHL’s provided me with KOHL’s Gift Cards to shop the season and update.
Fashion: Trending Mixed Patterns
Typically, I would have never mixed patterns, stripes, and I would play a wardrobe classic, however, with the trending pattern mixes I wanted to dabble and experiment with what would look great and feel right. KOHL’S offers so many choices I had to narrow it down to my style and what I felt my body could actually appropriately ‘carry-off’ and work from there. Along the way I made some fabu choices from some great brands all available at one great retail location, such as: Sonoma Life, Simply Vera Wang, BOB’S, Candies, Rock Republic, Dana Buchman, and Juicy Couture.
Striped Fashion Mix-Up
The interplay of smaller striped lines with larger striped lines, carefully provides clean lines, and keeps a great silhouette when dressed. The colors of black and white offer my the ‘classic’ part of my dressing that I crave, therefore this piece is definitely a KEEPER. The toss-up for me was which shoe: The Simply Vera Vera Wang Cutout Platform Wedges or the Simply Vera Vera Wang Two-Piece Flats. Each shoe clearly makes its own fashion statement and with each shoe I can create totally different looks, classic to runway.
Weekend & Casual Fashion Mixed Patterns
The weekends are meshed into my workweek and life, so I am always dressed. KOHL’S offers great pieces to make the weekends comfortable, trendy and mixed. Look at this Simply Vera Vera Wang Pintuck Tee I chose, as I was attracted to the Wine-Stripe color, making it scream FALL! The Simply Vera Vera Wang Dotted Infinity Scarf pulled the look together. The darker shades in the scarf highlight the deep wine, while the lighter colors tug at the pin-tucking on the shirt. The print(anthrocite pattern) is fun, yet not overly bold. When matched with the Jennifer Lopez Relaxed Skinny Jeans, I loved that the beaded pocket design offered a bit of match to the scarf dots.
Fashion Updates For Dressing Up
What I love most is that when I am in KOHL’S I can shop for everything from casual to dress and never have to leave the store– what fun. Knowing we have a few upcoming fall engagements that we need to dress for, I found these wonderful dress pants, that have a great design on them, and mixed them with a great Apt. 9 sleeveless shirt.
The black and cream color in the pant invite the boldness of the deep wine color on this shirt, while the accented black shoulders pull everything together nicely. The button down front creates a more dressed up look that would fare well under a cropped jacket, or sweeater if needed, very defining. Because the shirt buttoned, decking out my neck area was easy, and the Apt. 9 Bead Multirow Necklace hangs at 19″ with a 3″ extender and offers both tones of gold and silver, creating the perfect accessory for being versatile. Match this necklace with both casual and dressy items, as one piece does it all, as you can see from all my photos. The Simply Vera Vera Wang Cutout Platform Wedges provide a bit of lank to the leg, and height to the body, allowing the pant leg to flow with ease and grace. The overall look is definitely night-out, but could be toned down and quite trendy for work with the addition of an appropriate jacket.
Basic Fashion Must Grab’s
Yes, that is me taking a picture of my derriere as I was wanted to make a special note about this sweater. This is the SONOMA Life + Style Textured Open Front Cardigan and it comes in a few colors, and as you can tell I loved this one. I do like where this hits on the back-end of things as it is perfect for all those jeans you might have bought that don’t quite cover it up(lol) or if you are wearing tighter jeans and are just not quite comfortable letting it all hang out there for everyone to see, this is designed just perfect. Again you can see I placed that Apt. 9 Bead Multirow Necklace on with this and I added a SONOMA Tee underneath as this open cardigan is perfect for layering and great with jeans. Your next question what shoes? Boots? I have the answer of course: Here is my collage of this all put together.
The Candie’s Mid-Shaft Buckle Boots are perfect with all kinds of pants, and jeans and this outfit gets a whole new look with you put it together. Wear a bit of a boot-cut jean or cuff up those loose jeans, either way these are all the trend rage this season and you can find them in many colors at KOHL’S.
Queen Of #selfie Fall Fashion
Now a girl’s gotta have some Couture and #selfie it up and in this particular case, I had my cake and ate it too, lol! Thanks to this great hoodie from Juicy, I am the #selfie queen of Fall Fashion.
This is the Juicy Couture Cropped French Terry Hoodie and it offers a raw edge, with a weekend comfort that you want to have in your closet. Pair this up with some SONOMA Jeans and you are set to go and warmth is your friend.
The Weekend Casual Look for Fall Fashion
These BOBS caught my eye in the shoe department, as they are like a tweeded pattern and Fall perfect. I headed back to the fitting room because after all a girl has to have an outfit to match the shoes right? I loved these SONOMA cargo utility pants and the color is FALL perfect.
I paired it up with this SONOMA Life + Style Quilted Graphic Sweatshirt, because it is ‘quilted’ in appearance, but it is sweatshirt like in feel, so very comfortable. It is a 3/4″ length sleeve. My plan, roll the pants for now, until it is too cold, and wear the BOBS. When the weather changes I will add the Candie’s Boots, very simple and very trendy.
Before all the holidays start rolling in, before all those weekend sports events, and commitment hit you out of the blue, get out to KOHL’S and update your wardrobe. Mixing and matching patterns is big this fall, just don’t over-fire with patterns and you will do fine. Let the dominant pattern offer you a hand in coordinating a smaller pattern(like my stripe on stripe above). Buy an accessory that can match with more than one outfit, which is always helpful when you have a go-to piece. Shoes are what complete an outfit or what begin the great making of one, so eye up the shoes before you start clothing shopping and try to think about what you might want to pair up with them. Look for clothes that are fall-like in color but still brighten your day. Make sure to check out APT.9 if you are looking for clothes that can accent and build well into wardrobe. Jennifer Lopez offers great jeans that really fit and Simply Vera is the perfect line for anyone out wants to lightly travel out of the ‘classic’ but still remain ‘classic’ in look. Lavishly live Fall Fashion updates out loud when you shop at KOHL’S.
Again, thanks to KOHL’S for the gift cards that sent me shopping! Images, thoughts, opinions and descriptions are my own, as usual.
