For those who have ever had garbage ruffled through curbside, it’s hair raising.
Yet, kick that up another notch and remember that your garbage can be rummaged through and stolen as well.
This was my life about 6 years ago, and memory, I’ll never be free of.
When you have your credit line stolen, and you have to prove YOU are You, life changes.
There’s no way to believe there’s good out there when right on your front lawn, on your property, is where privacy ended.
It’s funny, your home is the one place you are to be safe and secure right?
I’m quite certain this story resonates with many that are reading it!
Security comes in many different forms, but it all starts with you.
A lesson, I learned and have continued to dig-in deeper on each day.
You’ve got to begin securely disposing of private documents.
The fact of the matter is, your private documents, junk mail, and confidential papers aren’t safe unless you securely dispose of them.
Securely Disposing of Private Documents
The product I will share was provided, but images and content are my own, based on my use of the product and knowledge of curb theft!
There’s nothing like the sound of a mail truck.
As the engine is constantly running at a low speed, the noise that emits from the mail truck makes it a classic noise most can identify with.
To that end, junk mail, confidential mail, and private papers are delivered daily.
Accordingly, we sort and sift through the mail and maybe just toss out the junk?
Or do you just rip an envelope into pieces and toss it?
No. Nope. Stop!
Ready from some tips on for securely disposing of private documents, junk mail, and confidential papers?
Well, let me start with the one I find most useful and ready for me each and every day!
Tip No. 1 – Shred The Life Out Of The Document
I am now the proud owner of a Kensington OfficeAssist™ Auto Feed Shredder A1300 Anti-Jam Cross Cut.
A long name, but worth every single alphabetical letter that spells it out!
In other words, worth its weight in gold!
130-sheet OfficeAssist™ Auto Feed Shredder A1300 Anti-Jam Cross Cut fits perfectly in my home office.
2 features I most love (and there are others, but I’ll keep it short) are the patented auto-feed as well as the quiet motor.
Dare I share a bit more? Yep!
You need this in your home office to start securely disposing of private documents, junk mail and confidential papers!
For those that like to open stacks of mail, and then get everything done at one time, it’s the perfect companion.
I make a pile of up to 130 confidential and private papers, set it in the feeder, and walk away.
No, I do not take out the staples, paper clips, or junk credit cards.
Instead, I put them in that pile and let it use the patented auto-feed.
Using P-4 security rated cross-cut shredding turns the paper into 5/32″ X 1 37/64″ pieces!
For those who don’t own a shredder or own a crappy shredded, upgrade your model.
Just click on these words to go buy it! Kensington P-4 Security Shredder!
Last, I’d be remiss if I did not mention the 7-gallon/250 sheet bin because it’s nice and big, I am not always emptying it.
Which naturally brings me to Tip No. 2.
Tip No. 2 For Securely Disposing of Confidential Documents.
Never trash all your shred at once.
Naturally, that sounds like a lot of work, but it is not.
What you want to do is take a handful here and a handful there and spread it between a few bags and a few different garbage pickups.
It’s important to know this!
If you rip an envelope in half, then throw only half in that week’s batch of garbage.
Again, to me, it makes more sense to use THE shredder as mentioned above.
Why? Because it has a rating of P-4 o referring to its method of cross-cutting the documents.
Tip No. 3 – Flame On!
Shred first.
Then, light up that firepit and burn those papers to ashes.
After all, ashes to ashes and dust to dust, there’s nothing left to steal from you!
Naturally, this seems like the best idea.
We actually shred all year long and keep it in bags, and when we light the fire pit, for our backyard gatherings, we use this with the kindling to start a kicking fire!
No more curb service for our data.
Don’t just trash your documents, junk mail, confidential statements, shred them, burn them, and leave nothing behind! ~Dana XO
