A Festive Feliz Navidad Mantel DIY
The same old, same old is boring!
That’s who I am and therefore I change things up.
Tradition is what I love and that is celebrating the holidays as a family and decorating as a family.
I love that!
Each year we come together, decide on what theme we want to decorate the mantel with, and then we vote!
This year, we chose Feliz Navidad
While Christmas colors are brilliant, Felize Navidad’s decor is even more eye-catching!

Holiday Piñatas & A Festive Feliz Navidad Mantel
It all started when I hopped onto Oriental Trading Company’s website and fell in love with the Donkey PIÑATAS.
These were just begging to be placed on the mantel.
I love those gold antlers and well I did load them with candy to hang and break at each of our gatherings.
When You Have BIG, You Gotta Balance It Out.
Naturally, I loved the big piñatas so I wanted to create a color pop and I sought out the smaller donkeys.
These are so sturdy and in my opinion, created the perfect companion to the Donkey Piñatas.
Because I could not resist these plush Christmas Alpaca and they fit the theme so well, I added them to the main part of the mantel between everything else!
Plus I added sombreros atop the cactus margarita glasses (more on these below).
What’s a Party Without A Sombrero?
Once I found these little tabletop sombreros, while looking at the other decor offerings, I was like, ‘gotta have them!’
I used them to decorate the top of each piñata, as well as the trees too.
Really I can reuse these on Cinco De Mayo, which we celebrate BIG!
The Elves Are Always Naughty and Not So Nice.
What I know about elves, is they can’t resist a good fiesta and while Santa is busy unloading the sleigh, they help and create chaos!
In any event, I used long-arm plush elves that connect with velcro hands to hang the stockings.
Additionally, the large long arm elf, kind of helped himself to the Margaritas as did two of his little friends.
As a result, one is sitting atop the Cactus Margarita Glasses (plastic) loaded with festive Faith Buttermints.
In consequence of nipping at margaritas in the Cactus Margarita dispenser, the other elf is passed out cold on the Fiesta Tassel pillow.
Funny thing, he brought his tabletop sized sombrero along but forgot to cover his head. LOL!
Did you see behind the margarita cactus dispenser there is a line of poinsettia garland?
I did that to add a pop of color along the bottom.
Serape Runner, Blanket and Flowers
Speaking of ‘pops’ of color, don’t forget to add-in a woven serape table runner, and some simple to craft Fiesta Tissue Paper Flowers.
The tissue paper flowers come flat, and you have to separate the layers and crinkle.
Each took about 3 minutes to create.
In any event, they added more color splashes throughout, so that is why I used them.
Again, for more color, I chose the fiesta serape throw, and that’s a great LIGHT blanket.
It’s very colorful and will be a piece of our home year-round.
What’s A Mantel Without Stockings?
Because no mantel would be complete without stockings, I chose these adorable plastic stockings.
There are a few different designs and they can be loaded with treats and either hung or set on the fireplace itself.
Then I also strung 2 different garlands across the fireplace.
One of the garlands is a holiday cactus garland, and the other is a Feliz Navidad banner.
I was able to maneuver the letters where they needed to be to center on my fireplace which was perfect!
