Over the weekend I attended Boscov’s Grand Opening in Erie and caught up with Jim Boscov. Not only is he an incredible person, his stores are incredible. You don’t need my testament to the store’s incredible deals, see the cart on the left of the photo? There were carts loaded like this all the time I was there, Erie needed Boscov’s and Boscov’s is delivering big with name brand products and great deals!
Jim was in the store, and we literally had just parted ways, and what do I see happen? A young man who admires the Boscov’s walked up to ‘Mr. Boscov’ and said, “Mr. Boscov can I please have your autograph?” without a flinch, Jim turned around and signed that flyer for him.

A throwback to old-school shopping in a wonderful environment is what you find entering Boscov’s. I remember all the department stores I used to shop in as a child, the escalators, the multiple departments, and the need to only get inside one store not multiple to shop!
MEN’S
My son never stopped smiling all day long, and that told me everything I needed to know. He was having a fabulous time shopping. Unusual as that may seem for a teen, there were tons of choices for him and the prices were so attractive I honestly never said ‘No!’
Having teen boys is toughest when I shop. Between work events that we attend, travel destinations and personal life we need dress clothes. Today, Elizabeth Lynch an associate in Men’s Suits helped fit my youngest son into a suit coat.
I was very unsure of where the jacket should fall and what size he needed, but Elizabeth took control and got him fit! Just in case you don’t know this, if Boscov’s does not have the item in your size at that location they ship to your home for free!
SHOES
I am a Sperry girl, owning over 25 pairs, kind of makes me an authority on great prices right? Hands-down the deal of the day clearly was the pricing on the Sperry’s at only $52. While you might have missed the grand-opening deal, there are plenty of other great deals. In case you are wondering, yes I got the bag with purchase===score!
You know what else I loved? The associate that was not even helping us chimed in and told me about the leather on the shoe, how it would give in, where it should and should not be tight. You know why I loved this so much?
Through his chatter, it showed me, he did not care if it was ‘his sale’ and that he clearly had experience with the brands he was selling. As the authority on Sperry myself, I did not tell him I knew all that, but he hit all the points on cue! My point, the sales staff is not just hired to be there, they clearly know their products and brands, which is so much more than I can say for many freestanding brand stores!
