Gluten Free Donuts

July 14, 2014 By Dana Vento 1 Comment

Gluten Free Donuts, gluten free, dana vento,

My daughter can not eat all those fun foods she once enjoyed and I have not let the new challenge get in my way, I have plowed it out of the way, made it into a fun time and found new recipes that I can rig to be Gluten Free to conform to her eating.

Going Gluten Free has been a blessing for my daughter as her health was so bad when eating gluten foods.  Now, as gluten is out of her diet she is feeling better every day.  What I don’t like are all the fake ingredients in foods that are gluten free, and the fat content in them.  Just because she has gone gluten free does not mean the food is ‘free’ nor does it mean the calories are ‘free’, in fact some of the most calorie heavy foods with large price tags exist becuase of Gluten Free needs and I have to tell you, you can come about this by prepping your own food and cooking in volume.  Gluten Free donuts are this week’s experiment and they quickly went from experiment to permanent menu in about 3 seconds! Lavishly living the gluten free life out loud and this is our donut experiment.

These took me about 3 minutes per batch and they are light and airy.  The donuts did not taste dry or appear flaky, in reality they were moist.  The plastic bag was the best way to pump these out and all I did was cut a very small hole in one end of the bag to make it work.  After I created these I froze a batch in a freezer bag and they freeze well.  The recipe ingredients are what most of us that have  in our home already, so there was really nothing extra to purchase.  The donut machine I used here was purchased on clearance at a local major retailers for under $10, making this the ultimate in bargains.

Gluten Free Donuts, gluten free, dana vento,

You can add different flavors, or different ingredients to change this recipe up, like nuts, or jimmies, or even raisins, just depending on what you want for the final result.  I also have found that the Gluten Free cake mixes make perfect donuts as well and there is virtually no prep when using those.  Get ready for your favorite Gluten Free person to smile when they bite into one of your little pieces of heaven.
