It is one of those days and I am sitting here behind our television, ready to rip my curly locks out! I can not believe that in the day and age of wireless that cable requires so many wires to the television and the cable box. What happened to keeping things trim-lined, streamlined and easy? We have to figure out how to organize our cables and wires because I am getting ready to install an entertainment center and this mess is not going to exist. As if the wires behind the television are not enough, I have uncovered a box of cables that seem to have no owners, no use and are in need of being connected with their devices. After trying masking tape, different colors of other tape and labels from the computer I have found an easy way to label my cable and wires. Lavishly live this adventure of How To Organize Cables and Wires Out loud as I present a solution that will bring organization to cable and wire chaos.
Time was not on my side because I am working against the countdown to the holidays so whatever I do has to be fast, easy and definitely reusable because there are many other rooms beckoning me with cables and wires. First stop was behind the television. The incoming entertainment unit means cleaning, organizing and learning what wire and what cable goes where? See I am really known for my ability to clean and organize, but guess what? Somewhere in the process I am famous for undoing wires, cables and then never being able to figure out where they go again!
You know when you get a new piece of tech how you vow to keep it all together, keep things organized and then suddenly something sidetracks you and you end up losing a piece, because the last time you had was…. Stop that, and get things labeled, and chances are the very cable or wire you need is right in front of your face!
This is the EPSON LabelWorks for Cable & Wire labeling. The LabelWorks worked as hard as I did to label each and every cable I programmed it to label. No more lost wires, cables and I have found out that we own over 5 syncing cords for one device. The drawers in the house no long can swallow up our cables because they are labeled! The LabelWorks Cable and Wire Kit will let you make great custom labels all over the place so you can label your equipment and know what is what! Organization. Never have to trace a wire or cable back to what it belongs to, label it: computer, printer, phone and router cables, AC adapters, DVR cables, TV wires, lamps are just a few examples of how to take control of your wire-filled world.
I went into my kitchen appliance drawer as well and you can see that I started labeling fryer cables, and fondue pot cords, no more chaos in the drawers, I am so over it!
The LabelWorks lets you save up to 50 labels to reuse again so that makes those pesky repeptive cable wires all being labeled in the near future with only ONE time programming for a saved label. THe initial kit comes with 2 cartridges of label which is more than 55 feet of label(thats a lot of labeling). As a bonus note, if ou buy the glow-in-the-dark labels you will be able to light up that electrical panel for when the lights go out and anything that needs a little light after the dark(flashlights) etc.
Is this fast to use? Actually, you could probably just put in the label of your choice and pop out basic labels, and you can see my first try here, but, you should do a bit of reading before you start. That said, the keys are very straightforward, the directions are easy to follow and every label that I churned out was perfect. My biggest thing here was time, and while I wanted to learn all the fonts, punctuation, Occasions, vertical text, multiple copies(think same cord in multiple amounts)Flag labels versus wrapped labels, I just had to learn what I could quickly and print them out.
Did you note I said I did it? What I missed were the intricate details because I could not sit and read enough, but it is the perfect tool. Once we get out of the holidays and I continue throughout the house I am making proper labels with smiley faces and brooms and dust pans on them, because I will have TIME To myself. The LabelWorks is feature rich and runs on AA Batteries. You can buy the AC Adapter which I plan on doing, but batteries work just fine. The nice thing about batteries is the fact they make it portable and let you work wherever you are, whereas with electric you are at the mercy of finding it to plug into!
Now you know how to label and organize cables and wires, get going the new year is almost here and you want to usher it in organized right? Lavishly live simple labeling out loud, get organized and take command of those pesky wires and cables! What would you use this for? ~Dana
