I can’t believe that I am about to share a popcorn recipe that I created using my Power Quick Pot. In fact, this may be the gift of the year for those that LOVE a one pot that does all! That’s right, it’s a pressure cooker, it sautes, steams, slow cooks, Sous Vide, makes yogurt and it pops popcorn!
The clear glass lid is used instead of the pressure valve driven lid. How did the popcorn turn out? Well if you like garlic and Parmesan and don’t mind experimenting you will LOVE cooking popcorn in your one pot does it all, know as the Power Quick Pot!
Use my Power Quick Pot Garlic Parmesan popcorn recipe as a springboard to create your own other great flavors of gourmet popcorn. It’s fast, simple and best of all, no stove-top needed! Let’s cook!
Power Quick Pot Garlic Parmesan Popcorn
When I opened my Power Quick Pot box, I was mystified as to why there was a glass lid and even a baking pan! There is also an egg rack (yeppers!) so I can hard boil eggs with ease, and a rack for steaming. Is it possible this pot is going to be the wondrous find I have been seeking for like ever? Also tucked inside the pot is a power cord, ladle, and a measuring cup!
Tip
I learned quickly that it is no just touching an LCD command (Saute, Sous Vide, etc) and then cook. Pay attention, you gotta know this too cook!
First things first, you have to understand this part of Power Quick Pot cooking: select from the LCD Display, then touch the knob (turning it to the right temperature) then press the knob again to begin. Now you can cook. This is the same directions each time you start cooking. Watch.
Stovetop Popcorn Is….
To complete the sentence of, “stovetop popcorn is…” let’s just say messy! Once upon a time stove top popcorn was the best in ‘west’ right? Not anymore. We don’t have time for scorched pots, splashed stovetops, or messes, so we use microwave popcorn. YUCK! Ain’t nothing like real popped popcorn! The discovery that I could pop popcorn in a pressure cooker was insane to me! Let’s Pop Popcorn!
Ingredients
1/2 C Popcorn
3 Tablespoons Pure Butter (firm, not melted) & Any brand
Extra Virgin Olive Oil (3 Generous Tablespoons)
*Please note you can use Coconut Oil, and some oils do cause the smoking point to be higher) I had no issues EVOO
Garlic Salt with herb mixture (1 1/2 TSP)
Fresh Parmesan Cheese (Hand grated is best)
Serving Bowl
Spatula
Power Quick Pot & Glass Lid
Method
Plug in the Power Quick Pot, then add in the oil and the butter. Next, program the LCD Display by touching Saute, then use the ‘beef’ setting, and press Saute again. Locking it into the first beef setting. the screen will change from blue to yellow, then the butter will melt.
Allow the butter to melt and the oil to heat. Once melted, mix in popcorn and add 1 teaspoons of Garlic Herb Salt. Stir, then add lid. I was worse than a kid watching it pop kernel by kernel as if I had nothing else to do! And it is exciting to watch the process.
Popping will begin and finish within 4 minutes or so. Toss remaining salt on and top off with some fresh grated cheese and serve. It’s that easy! Really look at how great the kernels are popped. Full and fabulous right?
It’s easy, fun and delicious. I started using only a 1/2 cup to see how it popped. I do not think I would pop bigger amounts because you really can’t take the lid off and stir and there is really no way to mix it or shake it because of the weight of the pot.
Suggestion: After trying more, I found that I was not as successful with popping enough of the kernels. I cave at 1/2 cup! Best idea and amount is at 1/2 cup, no more. Happy Popping ~ DANA
