I have to start this off and say I believe this recipe needs to be shared with everyone you know. Is it top shelf worthy? Yes, top-shelf of your refrigerator without a doubt. When I initially played with this recipe, I was not so sure how it would go.
After a few tweaks I got the perfect combination and have been serving it happily ever after. You see, a while back, we had a party, and of all the things I did buy, I forgot the one most requested item, Irish Cream Liqueur. Thus, the birth of my own Premium Irish Cream Liqueur Recipe.
Necessity is the mother of invention and I had the need to fulfill the ‘ask’ at a hosted party. If I had only known how easy it is to create this recipe back in the day, I never would have purchased it in the store.
Now I make it on demand, fresh and the compliments never cease! ‘Ching-Ching’, ‘Bottoms Up’ and ‘Sip Sip Hooray’ to a premium Irish Cream Liqueur kind of day!
Premium Irish Cream Liqueur Recipe
I do love preparing boozy drinks and creating new recipes. Sometimes I have tried recipes and not liked them, and I know I can do so much better. Other times, just a few small tweaks and suddenly you have a whole new taste.
Premium Irish Cream Liqueur is perfect for gifting friends with on their birthdays, holidays or great for toting to parties. In fact, this recipe can be made ahead and stores in the refrigerator for up to 2 months. Do make certain to use an air-tight bottle for storage.
Also, and I apologize ahead, you will be ‘known’ for this recipe and expected to bring it to every family gathering. There are worse things right? Read on as to why I learned to make this and how it all came together!
I bet after you read that intro, you were like, “really how many mouth warming shots did she do?”, but that’s just really me being me, sins alcohol! However, you do want to know that this goes ‘down the hatch’ without any throttle.
My premium Irish Cream Liqueur is light, refreshing and finishes smooth. How do I prefer to enjoy Premium Irish Cream Liqueur? Well, that’s kind of a tough sentence to answer because it can be poured over ice cream, atop a cake, into coffee or over ice and every which way it offers a good balance of primary tastes.
Distilled In Tradition
Like I said, I was in a pinch, we had some really important guests over, some that had done everything and anything for us when we visited and we wanted to reciprocate in much the same way. After all, it’s a brass ring kind of friendship, the kind that comes along once in a lifetime!
Step by step, as I made my way to the wine cellar, I knew I was going to come up dry. My mind had not been on Irish Cream it was focused on the dinner menu, and getting the primary course cooked to perfection.
Life kind of took over, and rather than focusing on the smaller things, I started focusing on wiping up bathrooms after kids again, window sills, and making sure that everyone would have something they loved on their dinner plate. Simply, I forgot to purchase Irish Cream Liqueur at the store and now I was going to have to become the imaginative bartender.
For The Imaginative Bartender
Suddenly I was cast into ‘Premium liqueur maker’ and I was not sure if I could handle this. A while back, I had made some of the best Cherry Bomb Moonshine and Cranberry flavored vodka, but they were kind of like no-fail, epic recipes!
What I learned in that moment was not to panic. Fun was about to be part of the evening from a simple forget-me purchase.
I let myself travel back into my college bar-tending days, where we could make a drink out of anything we had in our apartment and it still tasted good. Next, I Googled a few questions to make sure taste for taste I would match purchased liqueur and then like a mad scientist I went to work.
What Are Friends For?
Our first step was to gather the ingredients, which started out more like a scavenger hunt. I grabbed Vanilla Whiskey, sweetened condensed milk, a pack of some instant cappuccino I had sitting around, the kid’s chocolate milk chocolate syrup and a few other oddities.
Alexia grabbed the blender and a few shot glasses, I mean who makes a drink and does not taste test it first? Sip, sip, hooray right? I began to panic as I looked at our ingredients, thinking, “it’s going to taste sugary or too sweet” and then I just dove in and went for it. Suddenly our creation became what we now call, Distilled In Tradition!
You bet it was ‘Distilled In Tradition’ of forgetfulness, having too much on our ‘motherhood’ plates to do and friendship inspired this liqueur creation!
1 1/3 C Jim Bean Vanilla Whiskey (+2 shots + shot glasses for tasting!)
2 Teaspoons Cappuccino Instant Coffee
1 Can of Sweetened Condensed Milk (14 oz)
1 1/4 C Heavy Whipping Cream
2 Tsp Vanilla
1 Tsp Almond
Be terrified because the next steps are so EASY, lol, that you won’t believe you never made this before. Mix it all into the blender together. Blend for about 40 seconds. Remove the blender lid, sample, distribute and then load a glass with ice and say, “Here’s To You!”
Heavy whipping cream and condensed milk are the first to go in, just because those were closest to me at that time. Do not add water.
Premium Tasting Irish Cream Made At Home
Yeah, so easy I wonder why I had never been out of it before because this is Premium tasting and much smoother than the brands in the store. Part of any well-stocked bar is Irish Cream because it is so versatile, so what are you waiting for? Go make some Premium Irish Cream.
Yes that is instant cappuccino and that really was the winning ingredient. I know many have used traditional instant coffee, but I wanted more depth to mine and I got it, with this inventive twist!
The ingredients are so simple, that most of us already have everything we need for it in our home. The Cappuccino packets I had on hand were perfect for blending rather than traditional instant coffee.
Jim Beam Whiskey was enhanced with Vanilla so that elevated the taste and at the same time created a symphony of flavor in the mouth. I know you will enjoy ever sip. Refreshing, homemade and sweet overall, yet, light! Premium yes!
You might make a batch, love it, try it and then make repeat. Of course, doing this may have you looking like my little friends after tasting one too many, lol! I did not have any leprechauns in the house, but if I did, I would have let them try it too!
Of course I taste tested this over pizzelles too, that is just so delicious!
Remember, don’t drink and drive, and friends don’t let friends drive after drinking. Testing few shots or a couple over ice, in coffee may have you feeling gravity pulling you down! Enjoy. Bottoms Up! Cheers & Sip, Sip, Hooray because you made premium Irish Cream Liqueur today! ~ DANA XO
