As a Pittsburgh gal, I am fortunate to be bordered by a few wonderful states. Ohio offers a lot of fun, that many don’t even know about. However, the Ohio area I traveled to, Geneva On The Lake, has many vacation-goers that have traveled there for over 40 years in a row.
Now, if you love waterfront properties, delicious, fresh wine, great eats, and fun in the great outdoors, get ready to go for a road trip to Geneva On The Lake in Ohio!
Before I start telling you the story of the area, I do have to tell you that it reminds me of a cross of Kelley’s Island, Put-In-Bay and Port Clinton all in one! Lavishly live a road trip to Geneva On The Lake, Ohio out loud and travel with me!
Road Trip To Geneva On The Lake
The vehicle was provided, images and content are my own based on my personal road trip experience with the 2018 Hyundai Sonata Sport in Phantom Black.
So, I drove about 2 hours and 10 minutes to arrive at Geneva On The Lake area, not bad at all. The trip was easy, without a lot of extra highways and byways, just pretty much a straight shot from Pittsburgh there!
My destination was the Lakeside Inn & Winery a B&B that you truly have to experience. The B&B offers fine dining at the Crosswinds Grille, a Spa (right across the way), and a terrace that lets you indulge in the beauty of the earth from sunrise to sunset. No other restaurant or lodging in the area offers the terrace sitting looking at the water.
Additionally, your dining experience will be off the charts. Luxury begins with hand-crafted wines, they started in this house but ended up with a full production center for their wine in town.
The owners have been increasing everything from rooms to production, they are truly movers and shakers and nothing lacks attention. Luxury is what this B&B is about. Love it here.
Locally sourced field greens, veggies, and cheeses are served on their charcuterie trays. As well as incredibly decadent desserts, like the one on my plate.
Getting There
I traveled there in the 2018 Hyundai Sonata Sport. I averaged 35 MPG in Eco mode, that’s fantastic! One tank of gas for coming and going and yet there is plenty left, in fact, I can go another 190 miles before I will be on empty! Love it!
Tech Matters when you Drive.
I will be darn honest here, nav systems in vehicles are changing. GPS are a thing of the past. Use your smartphone to get from point A to B and the 7″ Color touchscreen display in the Sonata is the perfect companion.
Pair your phone, use your cord and speak your address, now drive! It’s awesome. Yes, you can play the radio through it as well, and it does not interfere with the navigation.
Everything Is At Your Finger Tips
Love to the steering wheel from Cruise Control to phone calls, it’s all there, letting you focus on the road ahead. Like I said, it’s all there and so easy to use. One of the easier cars I have test driven when it comes to amenities.
The Covered Bridges
You want your car to take yourself around, and I visited the covered bridges. After all the wineries open later, so you have time to sightsee. This is the West Liberty covered bridge, definitely cool to photo and something to see in the area.
Don’t forget to stop and see the Harpersfield covered bridge it is totally different than this one. In fact, it is in a tranquil spot. You will want your camera and some hiking shoes, it is beautiful.
Enjoy your time on the road, travel in style and remember, Geneva on the Lake is less than 2 1/2 hours from Pittsburgh, offering vineyards, wineries and amazing dining locations. Travel Well ~ DANA
