This movie was the one that when I asked my group of teens if they wanted to see, they all resounded with a, ‘Yes!’. It was off to the theater with 5 teens and myself. Everyone was chattering in the car, on the way as to how many references there would be to the ‘Avengers: Endgame.’
Together they had all seen that movie and all were curious to see what was ahead for Spider-Man. I was kind of wondering where the Spidey movie might start from and go. Needless to say, from the beginning to the end there were curves, bumps in the road, surprises and a good plot for this particular hero, who is kind of undeveloped yet….
My personal opinion and I’ll be right up front with it, is to take into consideration the outside heat, over the next few days and buy a ticket or a few tickets. Go. Get to the theater, as this is an absolute must for all those Avenger fans who just watched ‘Avengers: End Game’ unfold.
Spider-Man: Far From Home
I am not one to worry about end credits or middle credits, because the ones that matter, are the street cred that Spider-Man earns throughout the movie. Learning from what you do wrong, and moving into something right, is what creates a strong character. Did we not learn this already with Iron Man?
Watch the trailer, but if you have NOT seen the ‘Avengers: Endgame’ you may not want to watch this so SPOILER ALERT!
I’m not sure why, but at the beginning, I was a little confused at all the bouncing around from Peter’s personal life to his Spider-Man life. It almost seemed as there was a lot of ruckus built in, almost too much to understand what was to come.
About 1/2 hour in, things really started making sense and I really got a feel for who Peter was going to develop into, or did I? Peter is clearly in angst over the world needing the next Iron Man since the resulting events that occurred during ‘Avengers: Endgame’. Peter knows he is going to have to step into a new role, as threats continue around the world.
I believe it is all the apprehension that Spider-Man has towards what his new role might have to be, while yearning for a teenage life he may be missing.
Coming Of Age
There are plenty of sweet Peter Parker moments, as he interacts with MJ (Zendaya). Every decision he makes, he actually will own right or wrong, as the movie plays on. In fact, Peter will figure out how badly his mistake could hurt the world. Spidey’s character and charisma grow throughout the movie. While the begin seemed a bit fumbled, it finishes strong.
From the moment he owns his role and understands how Tony Stark saw him, his persona suddenly changes, yet he is still sweet Peter Parker, the high school student.
For me, the best scene of the movie is the exchange between Happy (Jon Favreau) and Peter on the personal jet. The scene is like this: Happy picks up Spider-Man and they go to the jet. Happy sits down and talks to Peter to push him to the best version of him without really saying much.
As Peter talks and listens, he recognizes who he was meant to be. Then, there’s that moment when Happy watches on as Peter creates, a masterful new suit from the onboard tech on the plane. Kind of like a mini Tony Stark, starting out.
Peter, however, is far more demure (at least right now) and unsure of himself. The one glance that Happy gives, acknowledges and affirms everything that Tony Stark felt about Peter was so right.
Changing Of The Tides
Spidey’s want to be with MJ, yet so unable to share that, makes it a great teen movie. While the brewing romance between May and Happy provide yet another uncomfortable feeling for Peter. References to Pepper are made throughout conversations with Happy, so you know she is still very involved.
Spider-Man’s interaction with Nick Fury is hilarious, and Nick Fury answers Peter’s request in a funny way, at the beginning of their Europe trip. If I were a betting woman, I’d say this will be the movie of the summer, as it has something for everyone. It’s not ‘The Avengers’ but it looks to be a new way to keep Tony Stark’s presence in movies, even if only as back flashes.
Stay in your seat for the last few minutes, you are not gonna believe what happens and WHO appears onscreen. Additionally, it might give you a hint in what direction the movie just might be going?
For many, that is enough to drive them into the theaters as he was their hero! Get ready for the new epoch of MCU and it’s all in front of you, just dream big because….It’s coming.

Don’t just sit here reading this. Get your family and friends and head out to the theater. The heat is insane and theater is cool fun. Sling those webs and drop into a seat! ~ Dana Xo
As a member of the media, I was able to see the screener of the movie. My thoughts and opinions are based on that viewing.
