Fast, simple meals are how I roll. My kids are in and out so much that I have to make food that can move with them. My walking tacos are easy, fast and portable. I guess they meet all of the requirements.
We used to get these when we went to my daughter’s cheer-leading events, and then we saw them at a couple of hockey games. Then I guess I kind of forgot about them. However, they are back and better than ever in our weekly menu.
The key to success when it comes to walking tacos are toppings. Never stop loading on the toppings, unless the chip bag breaks, lol! You can make these vegetarian just by subbing the meat out for meat substitute.
Lavishly live food out loud and make sure to print my walking taco recipe because it’s fast, easy and makes dinner easy especially during those busy school nights.
The Secret To My Walking Taco
Frito Lay Multipacks Snack Packs are perfect for lunches but they are also perfect for meals on the go. If you have never made a walking taco, you gotta try my recipe. Grab your snack-packs from like I did and let’s get cooking.
Walking Taco Recipe
First create your taco mix, you can make ground beef, shredded beef, chicken or seafood, it’s all up to you. I used ground beef. (everyone has their own favorite taco recipe, so use that)
Don’t forget you can use Tofu or meatless ground meat, as options for those who don’t eat meat. As always a versatile recipe ranks higher in my home!
Next, clean and prepare those toppings: lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, dip (or sour cream), shredded cheese and taco sauce.
How To Assemble The Walking Taco
Dig into that purchased multi pack of Frito Lay snacks and get the Doritos and Fritos from this pack. Hold the bag, longways, and cut it straight across as I am doing in the photo, use kitchen shears.
Once it is open then take it and give it a crunch with your hand as you can see in my left hand the bag is just sitting and I am crunching it a bit. Now open it up, I prefer to add the meat and the cheese first, this way the cheese blends in and melts (because the meat is warm).
Add in the lettuce, a scoop of sour cream, and a plastic fork to keep cleanup easy! That’s it and it is that easy.
Some of our toppings for the walking taco differ each time we make them: lettuce, tomato, red onion, shredded cheese, diced avocado and taco sauce.
It’s time to dig in an eat, it’s that easy. Make sure your print my recipe here
