I heart when my mom says we are traveling to the Shores and Islands of Lake Erie in Ohio. I never know where we are going, but it’s always fun. A few hours away from our house and the fun then starts. Tell your parents you want to go to Kelley’s Island in Ohio.
You get to ride a ferry with your car and see really cool stuff, but you can read my article of Teen Exploration Tips for Kelley’s Island to make sure you get to all the teen hot spots! As a teen travel pro, I gotta tell you this place is on my list of fav’s, you will see why. For now, let’s just talk about teens and ice cream – our go-to vacation food!
That’s my ice cream up there, and while I might be telling you the story before the story, let’s just say this is so above average it’s incredible. Today I am sharing where to find the best allergen-friendly (and regular) ice cream on Kelley’s Island.
Best Allergen-Friendly Ice Cream on Kelley’s Island
First, you should know that this is an actual island and it is close to Sandusky and Marblehead Ohio, 2 of my other favorite places. You want to go to this area.
Here we are at the find of the day. Seriously, look at my face. Do you know how frustrating it is when you can’t get what you want? That is the face you are seeing. We stopped at a different ice cream spot on the island and they would not help me with my food allergies. Basically, I was starving for a teen’s favorite food and could not have any. Then, we found Papa T’s Deckside.
The Find –
I went up and talked to a guy at the window (a teen), you know he was not much older than me. The employee just chatted with me and assured me that without a doubt he could serve me ice cream that was not cross-contaminated or with nuts. Big win!
Of course, that was just the first part, the taste of this was crazy good. Order the Superman in a cup.
This boy is happy and my mom snapped the stupid picture before I was ready, so I look like I am not smiling but trust me I am smiling on the inside of my belly. Kindness in eating is what you are witnessing, the chance to be a kid and enjoy life on vacation!
Now that we ate, I am so content, that I can’t stop smiling. MJ likes ice cream too, but he’s just being a typical big brother (you know they act annoyed with us all the time). You will LOVE this stop and crave their ice cream long after you are gone. Happy Summer Travels!
