What You Need To Know
The atmosphere is casual, so the clothes you went to the park in will work just fine, no worries. You will be seated when you get there, just wait to be greeted. It gets busy because it is so good. Brick Oven Pizza comes in 2 sizes: Personal or Large.
Consider the personal pizza ‘solo’ eating and really you might get your fingers beat if you try to take it from the person you are with… it’s that delicious. The 16″ is shareable. The Pizza is served on wooden boards and is not the traditional ROUND pizza, rather rectangular.
Each brick oven pizza is made moments before serving so fresh is what is served here. There is a full-service bar if you so desire, after all, beer, and wine is a pizza’s favorite accompaniments.
You will get hungrier as you sit there and see food going to other tables. Also, I think you will wonder if you should change our order. Don’t! Everything is delicious. There are a lot of options, just choose one and enjoy is all that I can tell you.
Pear Gorgonzola Please
The house specialty is the Pear Gorgonzola, look at this Brick Oven Pizza topped off with arugula creating a really vivid flavor. The arugula is super fresh, the cheese is spectacular. This joint really knows how to make a pizza pie. You will love the flavor and texture of the crust. It is just perfect. Not too hard, not too soft, yet chewy enough to appreciate. That’s the pizza crust I love and The Brick Oven Bistro nails it.
Families dine here, lots of them. It is super casual and really reasonable. Just in case you are wondering. Also, you get plenty to eat. No worries, I have teens and I always worry but the portions are perfect.
Our Brick Oven Pizza
Here’s what we dined on and I will tell you that each brick oven pizza radiates with vibrant and as you see each one walk past your table you just hope it’s yours. The crust is rimmed with cheese that is perfectly browned.
The underbelly of the pizza is NOT soft it is cooked evenly and consistently, so important. There’s not a garlic flavor that would kill you, so that is good to know. Tomato on here is pieced or diced, not the normal ‘slices’. Dig that basil spread, yummy!
MARGHERITA Pizza
Brick Oven Bistro has mastered the art of freshly crushed tomato sauce topped with a delicious blend of Roma tomatoes, capers, onion and a mozzarella and provolone blend that just takes it to the next level.
The capers are barely detectable in flavor(that’s a good thing), but they enhance the taste of the tomato if that makes sense. The fresh basil is what I a sucker for, so this pizza was deeply aromatic.
Build Your Own Calzone
MJ is the foodie who loves his pizza and burgers. Stepping into a calzone began a new foodie tradition for him and now he travels the world sampling calzones. So far, nothing has surpassed this stuffed pocket of heaven.
Truly, you can see it great to look at but taste matters. Where MJ Travels frequently references this calzone as the one created for the ‘Gods’ so it is that GOOD!
Let’s start with the sauce you see on the upper right-hand corner, that is Alfredo Sauce, so you know this experience is about to be super gourmet as it offers mixtures that combine flavors which then creates a whole new flavor!
Can you see the Pepperoni and Cheese oozing out and just beckoning you to start a dining experience you won’t soon forget? The crust that is cooked to perfection, not too thick and not too thin, just combined with restraint and balance to deliver big flavor.
ALLERGEN FRIENDLY
Where Niko Travels has food allergies. Finding a place that has good pizza, without being cross-contaminated has often been a challenge. We, however, love The Brick Oven Bistro because it truly is allergen-friendly styled dining.
Please remember when I refer to allergen-friendly dining, it means that we provided a list of my son’s food allergies and verified that none of them were in the food. Make sure to do the same to have a grand experience. I can tell you this: Nut free, latex free, honey free, seafood free.
This is a build your own pizza, with the signature thin crust, signature pizza sauce, and topped with cheese. Guess what? The whole pizza got eaten by one teen! He loved every bite of it and has not stopped talking about how delicious it was.
Don’t Forget Dessert
While the signature dessert is a S’MORES pizza, we opted for Cannoli because my kids love these! These are done to perfection and they are a trio. Now you can share. Fresh, You bet. Crunchy shells and delish cannoli filling all were part of this package. Three were plenty to split after the pizza and calzone portions.
I am kind of sorry we did not sample the other dessert, but it’s an excuse to return. Truly, we will be back since it is really that good. One of the kids has requested a ride to Sandusky just to do the food trail we have been sharing with you. LOL!
