The Easter Bunny Veggie Tray Celebrates Colorful Vegetables
When we think of Easter, our minds often drift to indulgent sweets and decadent desserts. However, amidst the sea of sugary delights, a refreshing and healthful option can make a world of difference.
This is where our Easter bunny veggie tray – a whimsical veggie platter – comes in! if you can rinse, dry, peel, and cut veggies, you got this! Making an easter bunny veggie tray is easy peasy!
What You’ll Need To Create Our Easter Bunny Veggie Tray
- A variety of fresh vegetables: Think colorful and crisp. Carrots, cucumbers, bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, and broccoli, cauliflower, are fantastic options.
- Other Veggies you might need: Extra large carrots (generally in the bulk section) small cucs (bite size), green onions
- Your favorite dips: Hummus, ranch, or any creamy dip that complements the veggies.
- A large platter: This will be your canvas.
- A little creativity and patience: the most important ingredients!
- Some Accents: We often use yogurt balls as accent pieces with raisins in them
- Provolone: For faces, we’ve been known to use a mini provolone ball cut in half then we add veggies to it
Do know that you can make a more solid dip like a port wine cheese dip, or a thicker feta olive dip and round it out to form the head like we have done in some of our images too. Hummus, creamy dip, harder dips, they all work with this!
Now if you really just want a bunny face, hollow out a round bread, add a spinach dip, dress it up with simple paper and tomatoes, and a cracker behind the eyes for realness.
How To Assemble The Easter Bunny Veggie Tray
Start with the Bunny’s Face and you can build out or around it, depending on which style you choose to build. There are so many ways to build an Easter bunny veggie tray, it is all up to you, your veggies, and your timing
- 1/2 round mozzarella
- large carrot slices
- large zucchini slices (lengthwise or widthwise) – depending on what you choose to make
- eggplant covered then with cucumber slices to cover (you won’t eat eggplant raw)
Choose a round or oval vegetable for the face.
Or you can use a round small provolone cheese (wax skin) cut in half and lay thin slices of lengthwise cucumber on it so that it is truly vegetables. The wax on the provolone will not affect the veggies.
Altneratively you can use an apple cut in half but more like 3/4 to 1/4 to get enough depth on the face, or slice a bell pepper in half and put cucumber slices over it.
You can also use large carrot slices (we buy huge carrots at our local farmers market, we can use them sliced wide or sliced off the carrot, the things are huge! You can also use 2 slices to form a face if your carrot is not fat enough.
Ears and Whiskers For The Easter Veggie Tray
The sky is the limit and if you look at how we styled so many of these, you will see, veggies are versatile, you wield the knife, you decide. Make changes on the fly if something does not feel or look right, I Do and I NEVER Regret styling changes!
Use long, thin veggies like carrot sticks, whole carrots, thin carrots, many baby carrots, thin celery sticks, or bell pepper strips ( or black licorice strips) all work well.
Easy Easter Bunny Veggie Tray: The Eyes and Nose
Small veggies like cherry tomatoes or olives add character to your bunny’s face. Do you want a white nose? Use cauliflower, or a strawberry, or a small raspberry (no one said it has to be all veggies, your house, your kitchen, your rules!)
The Fluffy Tail For Your Easter Bunny Veggie Tray
A small bowl of dip serves as a cute, fluffy tail. Place it at the bottom of your platter. But you can also use cauliflower stacked, or cubes of cheese piled up, or mozzarella peel-and-eat sticks in a stack chopped. The sky is the limit and not every Easter bunny veggie tray has a tail it depends on how you style them!
I am showing you different ones we have made over the years and in our test kitchen!
Fill in the Details
Use broccoli florets and other greens to fill in the space, giving your bunny a lush, vibrant look. You an use veggies that took right. Give your bunny depth by stacking veggies and spread more veggies around the bunny for more veggie snacking! The sky is the limit.
An Easter Bunny Veggie Tray
While this is not the largest tray, cucumbers truly are versatile as you can see and tomatoes are a good helper too when it comes to active pieces in the formation of an Easter bunny.
This one was cute to me but senseless as antying other than table decor and then it needed to be chopped up and used the next day.
So here’s the deal, the side you can’t see if butchered a bit, yep! I used 2 different kinds of cucumber, carrots, mushrooms, and tomatoes to create this, but, it was only as decor and later eaten personally in salads.
The tomatoes were Roma (and cherry) and I had a tough time securing them but it worked. The tail is a mushroom, but once the toothpick comes out, well the bunny falls apart. So if you are desperate for a veggie bunny this works but not for eating.
