Have you ever wanted to just spruce up your kitchen yet you don’t know where to start?
Some of the best projects start from the bottom up.
Don’t start on the floor until you commit to something like cabinetry.
My thought process on a kitchen renovation is to take out what sticks out the most and for the majority that is the cabinetry.
If you look in your kitchen the most prominent item should be the cabinets and for me, that is just a good starting point.
Color, style, and how they appear truly address the statement pieces in your kitchen so you need to determine what best suits you?
Get ready to lavishly live these tips on kitchen ideas that make the difference in a renovation out loud and change up those kitchens.
RENOVATION TRUTH
Updated on 8/27/2019 – Imagery Changed due to Wellborn providing images that were going to be copyright infringement — Since Wellborn provided imagery that should not have been used, I am sorry to this person that they did this too and would not be that person using images that were not allowed.
This used to be a sponsored post, however, I have updated my post to reflect my knowledge of renovation after our total revamp our kitchen.
A renovation is about having a vision of the final product and how you want it to look. Remodeling is not a fun process but it truly yields incredible results.
Kitchen renovations can be a beast to live through between contractors not fulfilling their promises or jobs gone wrong, you really need to line your chicks and hens up BEFORE you begin.
The Truth About DIY
Just because my husband is a contractor does not mean that he takes every project on, sometimes there is a time to say ‘when’.
Should we just be changing the cabinetry in the kitchen or should we just replace the countertops or should we replace both the kitchen cabinets and countertops?
While I would love him to handle this project, it is a bit more involved than we want to be, so we have done some soul-searching and thought processing to really focus on what we are looking for at the END of the renovation.
My husband, Michael would prefer we not tackle the world on this project and we make enough subtle changes that we get to what we want, but we do not create MORE work than needs to be. Is there a line of compromise?
Tips On Kitchen Ideas To Make A Difference In Renovation
So, you are this far and you want my tips right? It’s all about the cabinetry because after you change this your kitchen will be dramatically done and something good to look at, but you have to know these tips!
Cabinetry
At this point, you might be wondering how cabinetry fits into all of this but let me tell you to make this your very first consideration before starting any renovation in the kitchen.
Step back and look at your cabinets. Any kitchen can be changed up with a great set of cabinets. If you did not invest in ‘better’ cabinets when you built, consider a cabinet upgrade.
Cabinetry can make or break the look of the kitchen and if you are going to dress the kitchen up with an investment in granite or quartz, don’t paint your cabinets, upgrade them and make the tuxedo come together.
Make the room look lavish, not hacked and pieced together.
KITCHEN IDEAS
Kitchen ideas stem from what you don’t have, what you crave and often our first line of distress in a kitchen is the lack of functionality from our kitchen cabinetry. Cabinetry has endless options, but you don’t want to install them and then decide you dislike them because the color is just too overpowering. Pay attention to color, and think that if is bold it becomes bolder in bigger quantity.
BUDGET & Color
Budget is everything to most of us doing renovations so get it right before you start and look at your cabinets as your starting ground and move from there. Work with a great company that works with all budgets, because EVERY customer matters.
Remember that cabinetry has to match and you can’t just slap any cabinets in there.
You want to match the color to the cabinets and consider flooring options later. Make sure you think about your wall color that you will have, the floors that you have (unless you are changing them too) and make sure to touch and feel your cabinets.
The Result
The result of planning ahead will keep you ahead of the changes and ready to expect an incredible outcome. I hope that you will use my Tips On Kitchen Ideas To Make A Difference In Renovation to make a difference in your home.
