******SamMarie was a feral cat and kept attacking our children. After 4 weeks of having her scratch, bite, and often just retreat to her living quarters, we decided to place her back at her ‘workplace’ where we had gotten her from. ** She is happy and a working cat and she is well-tended too. SamMarie prefers no people and she also likes the freedom of taking care of a greenhouse, and construction garage. *** Since this story, we actually got a kitten name Bella and we have lived happily ever after, see all the great things Bella tests out in the Adventures of Pittsburgh Frugal Cat. *******************************
A cat in the house has changed things up just a bit. Just as I have finished getting rid of all those tiny little toddler toys, I am now collecting things for a cat. A lot of the items on the market are things I would never have thought of, nor did I know she needed and there are things you can tailor yourself. For things like beds, litter boxes, bowls, and toys I have turned to the experts to help me find my way through cat ownership and products that will actually be useful and not clutter things up! Having yet another little on in the house has brought a big of welcome chaos and the kids are purr-fectly content to just hang out with their cat!
Our cat came to us by chance as we took her over from my husband’s work because she had not been feeling well and after a trip to the vet, I simply could not send her back knowing that she needed care for a few weeks. As fate would have it we have all converged into a life with the cat and SamMarie has become Pittsburgh Frugal Cat as she tries out, and tests out all kinds of great products from wonderful online retail sites that can bring the same products to your home! We love her and she is loving her new life.
SamMarie never had a toy, she had a place to roam and a bunch of guys that loved her, fed her and tended to her, but she never really had things. Now, we are showing her things and she is acting like a kid in a candy shop, and grabbing at everything.
First up: Cat Food. We tried out some food from Walmart and the smell was horrible, after switching to another brand, we are able to tolerate her once-a-day wet cat food feeding and no longer gag at the smell. While the price was nice, the smell was horrible and creating a good smelling home was not happening, so no more frugal cat food! There are a lot of ways to achieve good buys on cat food, from shopping sales to cutting coupons, so planning is key! We know how many cans we need in a month and when the store places it on sale we purchase it and we get fuel discounted when we shop in our local grocery store! Score on frugality!
There are a lot of places biding for your hard-earned dollar but not all cat items are equal and I can tell you after only a few weeks in to stay away from those large retailers and shop online because you will find some of the best values for your fur friends that can be sent right to your door step! Get ready for all things cat as SamMarie will be giving 2 paws up and 2 paws down depending on her level of interaction and use with each item so get ready for Pittsburgh Frugal Cat series!
