Hello, I am Dana Vento, and you have found my working portfolio, my life, DanaVento.Com. I live in Pittsburgh, PA., but did you know I was born in Chicago? My blog is National and my travels are large. From numerous appearances on our local television stations to magazines published across the USA, I have shared my knowledge on lavishly living life out loud. ABOUT ME is just a light sprinkling of who I am.
My world of blogging has changed a lot (11 years so far and 2 websites later) I just roll with it. Now, after all the changing, I feel that my Brand is me, my voice is real and I only work with brands and destinations that fit my readership. In fact, you might say that my job is like living a fairy-tale out loud. Travel, tourism, hospitality are my guiding lights when I travel and I anticipate the best of the best experiences long before I arrive.
Upscale to luxury travel for families, teens, and couples is my niche. Often these destinations are served up with a side of culinary finds, and my own recipe creations. After all, what travel does not include food? When we are actually not traveling we hammer out fun DIY projects (if you call remodeling fun,)! And you never know when I will be sporting around in a test drive.
Clearly, you can tell that DanaVento.Com’s pages are filled with the best of the best so you too can lavishly live life out loud! About me is all of this, ready? Want to learn about the teens in my house who write? Read on, 4 Travel and food writers under one roof, it’s busy and we light it up!
The Motto & About Me
I live by the motto: I have one life to live, every day should be celebrated, appreciated and provided with the ‘best of’! It’s about lavishly living my experiences out loud, sharing them with others to gravitate to the same zest for life.
Sometimes I reflect back to the days of hearing this, “If You have to ask!” well, I have to ask, so that I can tell, and I do. We all want to know right!?
Upscale & Luxury
Travel and food are incredible niches and being able to interact with the upscale brands are just so ‘bucket-list’ fantastic. I am living my own tagline through each interaction “lavishly living life out loud!”
Loving the ‘best of‘ every facet of my life, I prefer upscale through luxury travel for both couples and family. Resort life, incredible vacation rental homes, ski lodges, cruise ships, and adventure travel have my name on them.
Culinary satisfaction is about gourmet eats, lovely wines, and artisan prepared foods. Street food is fun, poolside eats are fabulous, backdoor eateries that are only known to locals are magnificent and masterful restaurants are incredible.
Did I mention my three children are travel writers? Yes, they are and the continuously surprise me with fantastic content that their peers are reading over and over. Children ‘own’ the travel market so I am so glad mine are pioneers helping other teens decide where to travel! (Niko, Kallie, MJ)
It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere Right?
I do love my libations however I am a bit of a wine snob, or maybe someone with very definitive tastes drawn to red, full-bodied wines that are sinfully dry! What travel would be complete with a few cocktails? Every beverage is its own journey and I sip and tell!
However, pass a margarita rimmed with something other than salt and you will see a grin wider than the crescent moon. Honestly, with so much travel I have come to appreciate a great beverage to close out each day. What’s most interesting is that I do not think I have ever had one beverage that is the same, no matter where I travel! Some of my most popular articles are about libations!
About me, is simple, “you have found me, now let’s work, so I can tell the world about ME and YOUR destination, vehicle, or food!
Other Brands Found me for…
Relevancy is important and so is authenticity. First-hand experience allows proper discussion on a topic. Personally, I am about authenticity, I do not alter photos (old school in me), and everything I write is based on my experience.
Ask me if I have walked away from opportunities? Yes, I have. When the offers do not fit like matching, comfortable shoes, I don’t do it. So, a lot of firms and destinations seek me based on knowing the power of realism, that’s me! The reality of life has to be in truth.
Buying a vehicle at an incredible price, it was all about being a woman and negotiating TOUGH. I was after all an iconic money-saving blogger, you might know me formerly as Pittsburgh Frugal Mom, resulting in a feature in Redbook Magazine. Further articles have appeared in USA Hockey, Real Simple, as Popsicle PopUp Local Spokesperson, just to name a few.
Tech is a given in my life, after all, I used to work for a massive wireless phone retailer. HP Moms, lets me learn tech from experiencing it, and as a Verizon Wireless Brand Partner, I test to push the limits of photo clarity and coverage as I travel the world, using my phone to capture images! These are a just a few examples of great working partnerships.
When it comes to DIY tasks, partnering with RYOBI Power Tools and KOHLER provide me the best offerings there are, to work life out inside Casa Vento! Driving partnerships with KIA, and other well-known vehicle brands keep me relevant in the car industry.
SPEAKING FROM KNOWLEDGE WITHIN
When I would do radio spots with Star 100.7 I represented my own brand. Speaking is easy when you have a Masters Degree in Presentation Skills and HR Management. After that, speaking on behalf of a large brand like Gabe’s as a Media Representative was easy. Getting to dabble right from the start into a position of Shop ‘n Save online partner was yet another way to share my ability to speak professionally both on brand and on camera.
I love packing up the family and vacating ‘Casa Vento’ for a while. With so many fabulous destinations out there, we just have to go! Thanks to all of you and your countless emails after a post on a trip. It is rewarding knowing that my post answers your questions and humbling to know you trust me and ask me more questions.
Personally, travel allows me to tell the story of the destination we are visiting as I unpeel it layer by layer, just like an onion.
If you have traveled anywhere with a family you know that it is either perfect or miserable. There is nothing in between.
Adventure and exploration is key to travel. When I arrive with my family or by myself, I turn the area inside out, chat with staff and GO! Sleeping in is not in my vocabulary. Rather, sunrises, and sunsets. Also, find me a great off-road area that many seek and often can’t find and I have filled a craving.
My bags are always ready to go, and my kids keep their carry-on’s read! We are a jet-setter type family waiting for our next family adventure.
“When a trip makes it feel like a vacation and not a vacation that is a TRIP you know you have found a winning combination. ” ~Dana
What makes me unique is that I dish all the details and leave no covers un-turned(literally)! Family fun is important and it is possible to build a trip that every genre in your family will enjoy.
Where to Next?
Often asked, “where could you possibly want to travel to for work next Dana?” That is a loaded question and my bucket list is ever-changing. In fact, sometimes I go to places I never even considered or knew about.
Food Allergies & Vegetarianism
Want the most daring and crazy dining stories, tune in here. My daughter was Gluten Free for the longest time(and then things changed, let’s call it a medical diagnosis that was WRONG), my one son has nut, latex, shellfish(and many other allergies), all my kids have asthma while I am a vegetarian.
My son and husband love their carnage, so betwixt us all it is a free-for-all when cooking, dining and eating out but we manage.
I love to cook, and that might be putting it a little lightly, you can find me cooking up a storm, testing out new appliances, gadgets, and foods on my YouTube.
We have found so many establishments that can actually work with our dietary constraints. In fact, Niko has taken this cause on when he travels. Niko is a teen who has severe food allergies and he is helping other kids travel and eat!
Storytelling helps to exemplify the great destinations, foods, vehicles, and DIY out there. I selectively choose who I am aligning my brand with. I feel that if they meet my standards they will meet yours.
I am always amazed at all of the destinations that I never knew about. Learning is an education and I feel compelled to share them with you! I want to know what a place looks like, what they offer, the amenities and all the options. You can then decide if you want to replicate my trip.
TIDBITS ABOUT ME
Being honest. My favorite handbag brand will forever be Louis Vuitton and shopping is a hobby that I am happy to claim! Further, you will never hear me utter the words that ‘there’s such a thing as too many shoes’! I am a hopeless shoe addict and proud to tell you that!

The VENTO STAFF – It’s my kids! Niko, Kallie & MJ
Teen Writer – Niko Vento
I am Niko, a 14-year-old ice hockey player, who travels the world, with severe food and latex allergies. I am an honor roll student, who loves travel and all sports events. My biggest challenge when traveling is eating and as a teen, I eat a lot, so food and travel go hand-in-hand.
School & Travel
Just in case you are curious and have seen some of my adventures, you know my mom takes me out of school during the year. I make sure to stay on the honor roll so that I can get my travel approved during the school year, and not worry about things. Travel is an education tool. Since I love to travel and we do, and I have food allergies, I figure sharing my adventures can help so many others with food allergies (we learned a lot when we cruised with a big Cruise brand a little while back).
Dining & Travel with Niko
My dining adventures include foods that I am not allergic too, which is a tough challenge, especially when traveling in countries where I don’t speak their language. But, I have managed to dine in the Western Caribbean, the Eastern Caribbean, Mexico and on the high seas. Also from coast to coast.
The Moment that changed my travel experiences forever and I had that ‘AHA’ moment. My mom stopped along the highway in Georgia to eat, she asked to speak to the Food Manager, to see if we could eat at this one restaurant, we were starved.
The Restaurant Frustration That Started ME
Frustrated, she was turned away, I knew that I had to help others in the same situation. Sharing what I eat and where I eat might just help you all out and then you too can travel with a lot less fear.
Each time I travel, I challenge restaurants to work with my complicated allergies, so that I am knocking over those Chef Doors and helping others struggling with food allergies. Some do this more gracefully than others, trust me and I will tell you the truth. BTW, Great Wolf Lodge really rocks food allergies and since they are all over the US this is a tip you gotta know!
Luggage & Travel I Want To See The World
Every time I pull out a piece of luggage (it better have 4 wheel spinner luggage wheels) I start to think about my next adventure. I do love keeping up with all sports and keeping my streaks on Snapchat, so wherever I go WiFi needs to be there. I mean, these are teen requirements for travel are they not? Travel is like an unpacked piece of luggage that is never full and is waiting to be filled with memories.
I’ve experienced so much it’s almost too hard to know what favorite thing is; From zip lining over alligators to almost falling off a zip line in a course, to coaster rides, plane rides and Swimming in crystal clear waters of Roatan (Mahogany Bay) there’s something everywhere that I love.
Come along and let’s make the coolest beverages in those new Coca-Cola beverage dispensers that offer so many flavors you could literally get sick from trying them all (been there, done that, Wendy’s doesn’t kick you out, lol) – Travel is full of combinations just like the beverage machine, always different, never the same, so try it all.
