Have you ever dreamed of having a bit of Serenity when you are away on vacation as a family? Does the thought of that just seem realistically impossible? Trust me it’s possible. This is what I want today, after dealing with a hockey game, all the parents and packing kids up for school. I need a break!
I guess many of us are under the notion that if you go away as a family you stay as a family the whole time. What I have learned is a that a little-carved out space for you and he can really make a difference between survival and the decision to never take another vacation again as a family(lol!)
Carnival has long been known as a FAMILY ship, where kids are welcome and families have fun, but did you know there is a whole, get away from the kids, private space on the ship, that is absolutely not open to children? Lavishly live life out loud with a bit of Serenity, that is known as the Serenity Deck on Carnival Sunshine.
There is a space, actually a whole lot of space on the Carnival Sunshine that is beautiful to look at and that allows those that want a bit of ‘kid away’ space to indulge. While we personally did not spend lots of time on this side of the ship, we did go over there a few times so I could capture the ambiance and the beautiful architecture that Carnival has vested into this area.
One deck down is Cloud 9 Spa (an elite spa offering the best of in Spa services that you will find on the high seas) and you easily access this Serenity Area via an inside stairwell if you choose to get to if from the inside.
There are no children under 21 allowed in this area(please note at night, it is not forbade for U21 to be there). The Waterfall is amazing, the hot tub at the top even cooler(warmer), but if there are high winds this deck is closed.
The cabanas that are numerous and the special, cushion-coated chairs do not need to be ‘rented’ they are free. The hammocks, the personal areas, no extra charges and there were always plenty of them, because for everyone that sits or rests, another person got up and left. This area sits in the front of the ship, and the Lido is More Central, while the kids area is in the back of the ship, so things are well-sectioned off.
At night, as I mentioned, the Serenity Pool is definitely abandoned as the adults, were all inside having a great time at all the other options (or on the LIDO Deck partying) available while cruising. Serenity is hardly abandoned as movies play on the big screen on the Lido and those who are in the know, grab one of those cabana chairs (it looks like a pod), their towels and snug-in for a Dive-In Movie.
The cool breeze of the ocean does not touch you while you are in these chairs and it is fun! You will see lots of kids up here at this point in time, but it really is not adult time then in that area!
Lavishly live cruising out loud, in this great adults only area, located on the Carnival Sunshine, Serenity at last!
