The Only Lakefront Hotel On Put-In-Bay
One of my favorite ‘Dana Escapes’ is Put In Bay, South Bass Island on Lake Erie. I travel here at least once a year, varying between summer and fall. There’s everything to love on the island and it’s my secret place to ‘get away’ from everything.
While I am here I do NOTHING but relax and enjoy the area and wherever I stay. Believe it or not, after at least 8 trips here, I have not experienced every thing there is to do and see nor have I stayed mostly on the island.
More of my lodging has been along the Sandusky, Port Clinton and Marblehead, Ohio areas, but this time, I stayed on Put-In-Bay at the only lakefront hotel there. You know me, always trying to one-up my last stay, my last experience.
Last time I stayed it was in a Bed & Breakfast that was brand new, this time, I wanted to try something different, after all variety is the spice of a travel life!
I gotta tell you, this was definitely the best things I have done for myself. No leaving the island after I got there via Miller Ferry, which led to a nightlife like no other! Let me share with you the only lakefront hotel in Put-In-Bay, Ohio so you can book it for yourself for the upcoming spring, summer or fall.
The Only Lakefront Hotel On Put-In-Bay
This post is dedicated to Katrina Reed. ♥
Since going to the island, I have made friends with several of the business owners, and my kids feel like the know the area so well they could navigate it blind-folded. I truly want to purchase a home on the island and spend extended time there.
It’s pretty, and fun and it’s removed enough from the mainland, yet completely accessible if you use the Ferry!
Getting To Put-In-Bay
Before I keep going on and on, I want to tell you how I got to the Island. On this trip, I was hosted by Miller Ferry for my transportation and I loved it. Just like when I crossed the OBX from Hatteras to Ocracoke we rode a ferry.
This time, I am in Ohio, heading from the mainland to Put-In-Bay. Here, you will go to the other side of the island, not into the town center. I will tell you all about Miller Ferry in a different post, so you know all the details.
You can easily get to the town center once Miller Ferry gets you there (a total stranger to us, but suddenly a new friend on the island got us from the dock to our resort). Like I said, people in Put-In-Bay are the nicest people.
The Miller Ferry transports your car over if you want to take it. If you don’t have a reservation for a Golf Cart, then you should bring your car along.
Cars and people ride the ferry together. In fact, the Miller Ferry line is the only means of transportation for your vehicle. To take the Miller Ferry you need to set your GPS for Catawba Island Ferry.
Bayshore Resort
Guess you know what resort is the ONLY lakefront resort on Put-In-Bay now don’t you? It’s the Bayshore Resort and we were their guests. I loved it here, keep reading to learn more. We visited late in the season if you see me in pants, it was cool, but perfect weather!
I still can’t believe that I never stayed at the only lakefront hotel on Put-In-Bay but now I have! Also, I will return. It’s simple and clean and that is all you need. There are 2 pools, a 30 person Jacuzzi and a Tiki Bar all lakeside too!
Even though you won’t spend most of your time at the resort, it’s nice to know you have a ton of amenities to indulge in while you are there! There’s a lot to do on the island.
Poolside
Everything we needed in our room, we had, so that is all that mattered to me! My only regret is that when we were there in the fall it was not warmer. Had it been about 10 degrees warmer, you would have found me poolside.
Take a peek. See all the rooms face the lake, that’s awesome to wake up too, even if you have a bit of a hangover from your previous night (not that I would know anything about that!)
There are plenty of chairs and there’s usually plenty of sunshine too. The lake is right there so there’s always a breeze, just a little slice of Lake Erie Love right at the Bayshore Resort.
AMENITIES In Room
Our room boasted 2 beds, and a screened in patio. I loved this, not for taking photos so much because of the screen but no bugs biting at us as we sat and enjoyed the sunset.
On premises is a bar and 2 pools to enjoy, so you can just kind of hang and be. There’s no better view of Lake Erie by night in my opinion. Also, I loved seeing Perry’s Monument when I looked out of our room.
Every room at the Bayshore Resort provides a view of Lake Erie, so no matter what room you get, you will love it. All of your necessary toiletries for the shower, and towels.
There’s WiFi which is sometimes tricky (was not at the hotel, but around the island it can be) on Put-In-Bay because Canada is so close you sometimes roam. You gotta know this, and after 8+ trips to the island I have learned.
As I mentioned it’s very clean (one thing I am a stickler for) and you can see more evidence of this in the bathroom shower. Take a look.
Hotel Amenities
There is plenty of parking for those that sequester overnight golf cart rentals or bring their car. You are super close to town, it’s walk-able and trust me, after a night out in Put-In-Bay you won’t be ‘driving’ anywhere (if you take part in all the fun that is!)
Last, if you are staying on the next day, but checking out, there is a baggage holding room, so you do not have to take your luggage all over the island until you are ready to leave. It’s that simple and well organized!
Plan Ahead
As you can imagine, since it is the ONLY hotel that is lakefront, you can imagine it is booked pretty steadily. So, my advise is to get ahead of the rush and book your stay for this upcoming year. Remember, Put-In-Bay is beautiful in the Spring through the Fall. If you just want to see the island and not stay, the Miller Ferry runs daily with a posted schedule on their website
It is a great place to go to clear your mind, and recharge. My best suggestion is to stay the night and not feel pressured to leave that night. I’ll see you around the pool at the Bayshore Resort. ~ DANA XO
